Rome Restaurant - Food for 25?

I am part of a cruisecritic.com thread for a Holy Land cruise in October 2010. We are trying to find a restaurant to get some food at about 5:00-5:30 on a Sunday evening. We just want to grab a bite and meet everyone before we get on the ship the next day.

Anywhere in the downtown is good as people are staying everywhere.

Help is always appreciated.

Thanx

That might be a bit early for dinner. You will have to find a restaurant that does not close between lunch and dinner

Every place that I love to eat at in Rome does not open before 730pm. I think that you are going to have a problem with the time and the number of people?

Unfortunately I keep getting the same answers from all of the forums, etc. that I contact. Will have to come up with another plan.

thanx

You'd have to sit at a bunch of tables, because the place is rather small, but Enoteca Cul de Sac opens at 18:00, I believe. Good food. Good wine.

Click on link below and go to ACT III. It will tell you more about Enoteca cul de sac.

I really hate to disagree with you, Tom, because you're practically my hero in terms of trip planning, priorities and your trip reports are the best of any, BUT I can't imagine a group of 25 in that tiny little place. As I recall, they don't even take reservations. When we were there a group of about ten people showed up and they waited a very long time before they could be seated.

Hazel, my wife disagrees with me about ten times a day (she's usually right), so you will have to get in line (:

If it opens at 6 p.m. for dinner, and their group gets their early, I think they could get the group in (outside seating available at the picnic bench-type seating, too). The place certainly seats more than 25 people including outside. They would just have to be at a bunch of different tables. I think it would work if they got to Enoteca cul de sac 15 minutes before it opened. Then again, it might not. I would take the chance, unless they can find another spot open early.

Pierlugui is perfect.....it can easily handle 25 people and the food is great. It's located on Piazza Ricci, an easy walk to the Trevi or Navona.

Pierluigi opens for donner at 7 pm.

Zerlina May 25th, 2010 01:16 PM

Ooops. Make that "opens for dinner"...

"Pierluigi opens for donner at 7 pm."

I just want to be at the restaurant when they announce "The Donner Party." Of course, it would get a bigger laugh on this side of the ocean.

How about a tavola calda? Might be more fun anyway.

"Downtown" doesn't quite tell me the area you have in mind.

This place near the Pantheon does group reservations:
