Rome Restaurant
We are planning to visit Rome next week.
I'm looking for good restaurants(good food/local cuisine/good service/nice atmosphere)around Spanish Steps. |
We had a wonderful meal at La Concordia on V.della Croce. The waiter was very friendly and service and food was fabulous. I wouldn't however, recommend a la Rampa - 3 different waiters (all of them rude - one of then dumped some pasta on my husbands lap and didn't even bother to apologize), lousy service and when the bill arrived, the waiter had the nerve to say "service not included". Needless to day, we left without leaving a tip.

Hi esra,
Do a text search for "Rome AND restaurant". You will find dozens of recommendations. |
Buca di Ripetta, on Via di Ripetta, between the Steps and Piazza del Popolo. Great food and service, reasonable prices, friendly atmosphere. Make reservations.
|
Try the restaurant "Nino". Excellent food & service, reasonable prices, & I think a nice atmosphere.
Buon Appetito & Buon Viaggio, BC |
Two come to mind.
Fiaschetta Beltrame on the south side of Via della Croce, a block or two from Piazza Spagna. Seats maybe thirty. Terrific Abacchio Scotaditta (sp?). My current favorite is 'Gusto at the corner of via della Frezza and Via del Corea, a few blocks northwest of Piazza Spagna. Its a very modern interior and is populated by a goodly portion of Rome's glitterati. Everything from plates of cheese and salumi to full bore dining. A happening place. I'd reserve. 063226273. |
I'd second the recommendation for 'Gusto. Was just there this past weekend, and they had great pizza and insalata mista (as well as other food), as well as a very good wine list. They also had outdoor heaters so you could (if you wanted) sit outside, with the rest of the "gliterati". Short walk from Spanish Steps, and even closer to Via del Corso and surroundings.
|
i meant to say insalata caprese, not mista. my apologies.
another recommendation: there's a fantastic place for focaccia on the go while you're walking around the spanish steps area: I think it's called Fior Fiore (or something like that) |
sorry, hit the post button too quickly again. i meant to add that it is on the street that is about 2 streets west (?) of via condotti. (via della croce, i believe)

Good morning, esra
Will gladly second bookmarks' recommendation of Ristorante NINO, Via Borgognona, 11 it is two short blocks short of the bottom of the Spanish Steps and about a 1/4 block to the right. Have been there a number of times and am looking forward to eating dinner there within two weeeks. Also wouold strongly suggest reservatiions as it fills up early (730) Love their roman artichokes... Richard of LaGrange Park, Il.. |
Il Melarancio (Tridente area, v. del Vantaggio 43, orata in orange sauce, yum), another vote for Gusto (Tridente area, P Augusto Imperatore 9, trendy with locals/tourists, pizzeria/salads), Osteria del Gallo (near P. Navona, Vicolo de Montevecchio 27, zucchine flowers, orata with tomato/olives). enjoy!!

We had dinner at Nino's two weeks ago.
My husband loves cannelloni (sp?) and was transported by their version. Good food,a certain "atmosphere" ...but NOT romantic. Reservations: definitely... every table was reserved the nite we were there. |
I also liked Gusto; the restaurant is upstairs, downstairs is a pizzeria. I can also recommend Dal Bolognese, Piazza del Popolo; reservations essential. Smart, very Italian restaurant; nearly all men wore suits/ties.
|
Near the Vatican you should try Dino & Tony's Hosteria. Excellent food and service, and great value. Make a reservation. (You can do a search for more information.)
