I will be arriving on the 17th and staying for seven nights, but would like to find some feedback on the otel before I confirm the reservation. When do you go?

Hi, Sara! <BR> <BR>My wife and I stayed at Residenza San Pantaleo for a week at the end of May. <BR> <BR>I am sure that there are other nice places to stay in Rome but we consider ourselves fortunate to have stayed at San Pantaleo. <BR> <BR>For price and location I don't think it can be beat. It is also clean and safe. Suffice to say that when and if we go back to Rome we will most certainly stay there again. <BR> <BR>We loved being almost next door to Piazza Navona and it is also close by to Campo dei Fiori. You can also walk to many of the major things to see such as the Colosseum, Trevi, Spanish Steps, St. Peter's. A Fleabag That Everyone Should Avoid? <BR> <BR>That's my guess. <BR> <BR>I've noticed so much conversation over the summer about a tiny hotel, and wondered. So many threads about such a tiny hotel makes me wonder even more. <BR> <BR>Does anyone else smell a rat here? A commercial? An ongoing assault. <BR> <BR>And then, all of a sudden, a thread starts up, seeming in mid-conversation. Odd? Not at all. Just well-orchestrated. <BR> <BR>Seems like everyone is staying at San Pantaleo. Maybe I should drop my plans and stay there as well. And tell all my friends. Why don't you tell all your friends as well. We'll all stay at the San Pantaleo. <BR> <BR>Or perhaps we should let everyone know that a lodging in Rome that has to "advertise" on a commercial-free website ought to be avoided. Experience shows that good properties don't have to do that. Properties that do business this way usually do so because they're so bad they can't attract business any other way.

They don't want this red flag to go to the top. <BR> <BR>Let's make sure this spammer gets what they deserve ... no business from here.

When did Fodors become an avenue for aggression? I am not representing the San Pantaleo. I am a traveler who will be visiting Rome and don’t want to pay an arm and a leg to stay somewhere central. I used the search engine to research the San Pantaleo BEFORE posting this message and the only person who seems to have stayed there with any comments is “Bob.” I’m simply trying to find anyone else who may have feedback. After all, this is the end of August and summer is a very busy travel season in Europe, hence…..I just wanted to see if any recent travelers had the opportunity to stay here. Didn’t realize that I would be causing such an uproar!

For what it's worth, this hotel is recommended on the Scala Reale website. And, if I remember correctly, there is also a post ,somewhere on this forum, from Marrianna, the tourguide who posts frequently, recommending this hotel.

It's a place where travelers can share their experiences. <BR> <BR>Many of the postings that you are moaning about could be because of many postings that I have made since I returned from a trip to Rome in early June. During this trip I stayed at Residenza San Pantaleo. I could not have picked a more perfect place to stay and I have been recommending it on this forum since I returned especially when someone is inquiring about a nice, inexpensive, conveniently located place to stay in Rome. <BR> <BR>Again, these observations are given from both myself and my wife, just two people who had a tremendous experience during our stay at Residenza San Pantaleo. <BR> <BR>As we all love to travel, we all have choices of where to go, where to eat, how to get there, and where to stay. Don't we? How cynical! I do not work for Residenza San Pantaleo. I got the name from a forum like this or thru searching guide books or web sites. I also made my reservations before I posted to this site. This forum is the best place to find out if you made a good decision. Maybe if you think all posters have suspect motives, you shouldn't frequent this forum. We don't need or appreciate your comments. <BR>Sara - We will be in Rome November 8 thru the 12th.

Tony, <BR>They are charging us 160,000 Lire for a double with a bath.

they are quoting me the same, 160.000 per night. they advertise a contential breakfast, but I understand from others that it isn't more than coffee and a roll...unlike some of the other highly recommended places on this forum where I hear the breakfast has much more of a varity. But I figure if I'm saving up to 40.000 - 60.000/ITL per night, then I can get my breakfast elsewhere. I will be traveling to Rome at the end of Nov.

A continental breakfast in Italy and France is coffee and a roll. They advertise correctly. (Or tea or chocolate, and normally butter/margerine and jam/jelly/honey.) <BR> <BR>

It looks like it is on a large, busy, noisey, polluted boulevard to me. What is so good about it?

Hi, xxx <BR> <BR>It is indeed located on the corner of Piazza San Pantaleo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is a very busy street. Also, very convenient to some bus lines. <BR> <BR>The room my wife and I had when we stayed here overlooked this street and we were on the 4th floor (5th in Europe remember) and you could hear the traffic below. But the window in our room when shut really blocked out any noise from outside. <BR> <BR>To be honest we never really shut the window and we slept very soundly. Of course one can shut the window since there is A/C available in the room. We just liked the window open. <BR> <BR>For someone considering staying here, they can always request one of the 3 inner rooms. Dear xxx: <BR> <BR>ok, ok....I get it, you don't like the Residenza San Pantaleo. I'm open to other suggestions, assuming you any and want to be helpful in sharing your POSITIVE thoughts and experiences. My goal is to stay near Piazza Navona for about $100/US per night. Don't need anything fancy, just clean and central. Thoughts?
