Rome Question

Thanks to fellow Fodorites, DH & I have been reformed! We now have carryon size luggage for all trips - no matter how long :-) Thanks to responses to my last post, we have airport security size toiletries!

Now, for our 16 days trip & our very few packed clothes, does anyone know where in Rome we can find a CLEAN laudramat? Last year, we could find laudramats, but they were waaayyy too dirty for us. Our apartment (w/o washer & dryer) is near the Barberini metro stop. But we can bus to any Rome area.

Realize we can hand wash & I'm sure we will. But just in case we want to do a larger wash, would be nice to know of a clean place.

Thanks in advance, Julie

Julie,

On my last trip I had laundry done at a place on Via Nationale (SP?) that my hotel recommended. You dropped off and they did it. Wasn't expensive and I had them wash only, the washers spin so well that your clothes come out nearly dry! It was very clean and run by an Asian couple who spoke Italian, but little English. It was called Blu something.....

Most hotels will also have laundry service, price will vary depending on the price range of the hotel! I also had a couple hotels do laundry/ironing for me and it was reasonable and absolutely perfectly done!

Buon viaggio, you're going to love traveling light!

Dayle, how did you ensure that they would not use hot water? I don't want all the colors running all over everything and/or the knits shrinking 2 sizes or more!

Did the machine washing without drying cause a lot of wrinkles?

Were you concerned that the dryer would shrink the clothes?

Thanks, Julie

After 10 days on the road, my son and I decided to do some laundry.
We had a great experience at this place, so I thought I would share if anyone is in Rome and needing to wash...

ondablue
Metro Ottaviano
Tel. 06 39724255

Easy walk from the Metro...self-service...laundry detergent provided...nice staff...helpful with use of machines...attended

We left our clothes washing...spent some time walking around...came back, put clothes in the dryer....

If you have to do laundry, this was a good place to go...

Julie,

I just used my limited Italian. The few key words seemed to work!

I think the trick is you've got to dive in local. Clean is what it is!

I did not go to either laundromat but the address I had for one was:
Via degli Avignonesi, 17
Roma, Lazio 00187
(one street or so 'south' of Tritone at Barberini)
