Rome - Positano
Help!
I am trying to schedule the best route from Rome to Positano for mid-July. From what I can tell, options are bus, train and both. Also, train to Salerno, and ferry from there. Also, train to Naples and taxi from there directly to Positano? Key is timing and ease. I'm not interested in changing forms of travel 3 times, I don't think. Anyone have insight on the preferred route? |
For "timing and ease" I would suggest taking an ES train from Rome to Naples. From Naples I would arrange for a car service to pick me up for the remainder of the trip to Positano.
If you opt for this approach, you should arrange for the car service in advance of your arrival in Italy. |
Thanks for your insight.
Has anyone ever done that - taxi from the AC to Naples? I was just curious about the cost of a taxi/limo ride for, what, about 60-90 minutes? It may not be dramatically more than the cost of two train/bus tix to Sorrento, and a taxi/bus ride from there to Positano. |
SEC - The going rate for a car transfer from Naples station to Positano is € 100, give or take.
Naples-Positano by public tranport (- train to Sorrento, then bus) is approx. € 5 per person. But is slower, of course ... Naples-Positano by hydrofoil (- twice daily; journey time: 1 hr)) is € 10 p.p Ferry Salerno-Positano costs approx. 6 p.p and takes about 75 mins. Hope this helps ... P.S Alternatively there is a DIRECT Rome-Positano bus service which leaves 07.00 (- from ROMA Tiburtina station).
This is the cheapest option. Fare: approx. € 20 Journey time: about 4.5 hrs Operator: Marozzi www.marozzivt.it |
