Hi FP - Are you saying you want to stay in Civitavecchia for the day - rather than visit Rome?

I suspect some cruise lines advertise that their ship calls in "Rome" without explaining that the ship actually calls in Civitavecchia which is a town about one hour's train journey from Roma.
I'm sure there are shops and restaurants in Civitavecchia, but there are probably more interesting places nearby.

It looks as though you really want a shore excursion to Rome or maybe Tarquinia

You can train into Rome in about 1 hour (tickets will be about 10€ per person each way).

There are certainly shops and restaurants.

Alternatively if you want a day on the beach, catch a train to nearby Santa Marinella.
