Rome / Paris via Matterhorn for 3 days. Is it possible to do ?Need Help
Will be leaving Rome on the 27th December 2013, need to be in Paris on the 30 or the morning of the 31st December for NYE.
Want to spend 3 days somewhere between these destinations, preferably where there could be snow. Keen to see Matterhorn ! Would it be possible to travel by train from Rome to Zermatt or Matterhorn stay a couple of nights & then get to Paris before NYE ? How would we do this, ? Also need some suggestions how to spend NYE in Paris without spending a fortune. 2 women traveling ! Sazzi |

Without checking details ( train timetables, etc), Rome - Zermatt - Paris in 3 days sounds ridiculous...
> Zermatt or Matterhorn stay a couple of nights & then .. Matterohrn is a mountain so you don't "stay" there. Zermatt yes. But then, many hotels require minumum number of nights of stay ( even 7 - 10 nights). Maybe some cheaper hotels may accept a stay for only a couple of nights. You can check train time table yourself at : http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/ |
Christmas is high season and many Zermatt hotels are fully booked. But it's not ridiculous at all to stay there for 3 nights (I never slept more than 1 night at or around Zermatt).
There are actually available rooms for 3 nights all along the Matternorn Valley (Zermatt, Taesch, Randa, St. Niklaus, Stalden). Taesch is linked with Zermatt by frequent shuttle trains. |
"You can check train time table yourself at :
http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/" You can try, but you will get no result for Dec 27th. May be SBB will load the new timetables in the next weeks. |
You are right, the timetable is not loaded from 14/15 Dec on yet. Sill you can get an general idea of how long OP's train journeys take by taking a look at available timetable.
I read the title "Rome / Paris via Matterhorn for 3 days", that sounded like Day1 Dep. Rome and Day3 End in Paris. |
But, ummm, remember just because you are in Zermatt you may or may not see the Matterhorn. We were there for several days and it was in the clouds for the most part--in June.

Easily done as neckervd has clearly detailed.
Kappa1, perhaps reading more than just the title would be a good idea. ;-) |
