Rome - open air concerts June 2007
Hi! I'm heading to rome (first time) on june 8th for the weekend. I've heard there are sometimes open-air theatre/concerts/opera etc in the summer.
I can't find any sites that have info. Does anyone know if this is the case/where it happens/how you can find out? Thanks for any help! |
There are several open air concerts held in Rome, usually at the Auditorium-the Renzo Piano designed edifice, and at the Baths of Caracalla in the summer, but particularly in July.
If you are interested in classical music concerts, held inside, I would highly recommend the concerts at the magnficent 16th century Paolina Chapel at the Quirinale, the home of the President of the Republic. This stunning chapel is where concerts are held on Sundays and broadcast live on Rai radio-a ticket includes a tour of the chapel. You don't need to read Italian to figure out when the concerts are, and what classical music pieces are on the program, they give the classical music concerts all the way through June: http://www.quirinale.it/palazzo/Conc...rtiPaolina.htm But if you want the real outdoor experience, then it is an opera at the ancient Baths of Caracalla (Terme di Caracalla) that you want to attend-here's a ticket website for their summer season, however their opening is not until July: http://www.italianvisits.com/tickets..._caracalla.htm Also check this website "In Rome Now" a great Rome website for what's currently going on in Rome-and it gives concert events through May: http://www.inromenow.com/site%20temp...rtainMusic.htm |
