Rome-Nice Overnight Train

I'm planning to take the Rome-Nice overnight train this summer with a group of 7 people. What are the overnight accomodations on this train? I keep getting different information.

I heard 3 person compartments? I've heard 4 person couchettes? Does anyone know? How can I definitively find out before July trains are loaded into Rail Europe's system?

Also, does anyone know about the Nice-Paris overnight?

Rome-Nice overnight accomodations:
private single
private double
private T3 triple
couchettes with 6 beds

Nice-Paris
same as above except maybe not the T3 triple, but there is also a 4 couchettes
compartment

Check out all overnights on this website: euraide.com

Hi B,

If you want information on trains, you go to the national rail lines, not RailEurope.

Are you planning on buying railpasses?
Don't before you enter your itinerary at www.railsaver.com and click "only if it saves money".

Also, from www.trenitalia.com (click English, click Promotions, click SmartPrice)

Nice starting from 15 euro with the Riviera trains.....
On the “Montecarlo” RIVIERA Euronight leaving from Rome Termini and Florence Campo Marte: 45 euros for accommodation in 4-place Comfort carriages; 55 euros for a bed in a 3-place compartment; 85 euros for a bed in a 2-place compartment.

Consider flying. There are budget flights from Rome to Nice in July for as little as 42E (including tax)per person. I entered a random date in July and the flight time is 1 hour 10 minutes. Most flights for the month were 9.99E + taxes.

If you do do these two night trains consider the France-Italy railpass but as Ira says www.railsaver.com can help you see whether the pass is good or not. Maybe you'll be doing other rail travel in these two countries as well making it more viable.
Otherwise it can be frustrating especially with Trenitalia.com to book tickets or get the elusive specials.

I always recommend BudgetEuropeTravel.com for any European rail questions. Call the 800 number. Very knowledgeable and helpful people will patiently answer your questions. You can purchase your tickets through them, too, with a small S&H fee added.
