Rome Metro

I noticed that the Fodor's Rome map does not show the Cavour Metro stop on Line B. Does the Cavour station exist??

kybourbon Mar 10th, 2013 09:49 AM

Yes, the Cavour metro stop is halfway between Termini and the Colosseum stops.

If you are exiting at that stop, it's on the side of Cavour towards Via Giovanni. The exist has a flight of stairs, no escalator, no elevator (unless very recently added). The entrance is on the far side of Cavour, down a street level on Via Leonina. Via Leonina (at intersection of Via Urbana) is a story below the level of Cavour. The entrance on Via Leonina does not have stairs, but it's entrance only.

Cavour is between Termini and Colosseo.

Here's a picture of the entrance on Via Leonina/Via Urbana. You can see the stairs. At the top of the stairs is Via Cavour. The exit would be across the street on Via Cavour (and down a flight of stairs).

This is a picture of the exit you would have to use. You can see all the stairs (might be a problem with luggage).

Thanks so much for the information! We will be taking train from airport and understand that Carvour exists and that we have to carry luggage up steps. But worth the effort!

pbeitchman, So "we" as in at least 2 persons.

14e each for the train tickets (28e) and 1.5e each for the metro tickets (3e), 31e total.

For 40e you can have a private car and driver meet you at Airport Arrivals and take you to your hotel.

There are many companies that do this for up to ~50e but they are the cheapest and a taxi is 48e.

Perhaps you and the other half of "we" esp *if* you're arriving after a long international flight might enjoy this 9e more luxury:-).

For only 5€, you take the shuttle bus from the airport to Termini and then hop the metro (1.50€).

For only 5€ you can take the Atral-Schiaffini bus:

For only 4€, you can take the Terravision bus.

http://www.terravision.eu/rome_fiumicino.html

For only 8€, you take the local train (FR1) from the airport (instead of the Leonardo Express) to Rome Ostiense station and catch the metro.

For only 5€, you can take the Tam bus to Rome Ostiense (closer to the airport, but on the metro) or to Rome Termini. Don't bother clicking for English as it doesn't work.

FWIW - The Cavour exit did install a wheelchair lift which goes up the railing (flip down style).

Where is your hotel? There might be other options.

FYI - The FR1 (called FL1 on this map and sometimes called FS1) does not go to Termini. You would only use this for other stations in Rome from the airport.

Sometimes after flying all night and not sleeping, traveling with your stuff and not knowing where the heck you are going-its alot easier to have someone outside of customs holding up a sign with your name on it and taking you out to a private car straight to your hotel for 40 euros.Just saying...
Having done it many ways, this is the ONLY way I will do it now.
