Rome Marathon- what will the city be like that day?

Jump to last reply

Our family of 5 will be arriving in Rome next Saturday, April 9th. We had planned to visit the Colosseum on Sunday, April 10th but just found out that the Marathon is that day and the starting/finish line is at the Colosseum. I think it's best to avoid that area on Sunday, yes? Any suggestions or ideas of what we can do to avoid some of the crowds? Would be fun to watch for a bit (my kids have watched the NYC Marathon and loved it) but don't want to spend our whole morning doing so. Thanks in advance.
