Rome luggage...
 

We will be in Rome for 4 days. On the 4th day, we have to check out of our apartment at ten a.m., but we arent leaving Rome until five p.m. Does anybody have any ideas where we can store our luggage in btween checkout and our flight?

At Termini train station in the left-luggage depot - charge is per bag per a set number of hours but dependably available - leave extra time to retrieve luggage in case their are long lines - only manual operation - no lockers to my knowledge unless in last few years.

I repeat PalenQ's warning about long lines on retrieval, the longest line I've ever seen the day I was in the vicinity of termini left luggage. Quite extraordinary. Don't underestimate the time you may need. And I suppose there's no way to know in advance.

Another possibility would be to investigate travel agencies in the vicinity of termini, some of whom I'm told will keep luggage for a charge. That would eliminate the possible retrieval line.

Or, have you asked the rental agent or owner if they can keep your bags for a few hours? It's a common thing.

This info is 6yrs but if you are taking a taxi it might be worth your while to check out these two places for an easy drop-off and pick-up.
Or if you are in Termini during your stay you could check both of them out and be back at the station within 10min. Regards, Walter

LUGGAGE STORAGE (Deposito Bagagli)
Alongside Track 24 there is an signposted elevator that will take you downstairs to luggage storage.
Be warned though the line esp in the morning can be long and slow moving, I'd say ~100 people lined-up ~0930 in May'06.

A person's website mentioned waiting 2hrs in Oct'05. All left luggage is X-rayed.
There are NO self-service luggage lockers in Italy since Sept'01. �

Melissa (Nicolas Inn) mentioned this option on the Frommer's messageboard and I checked it out.

There is a laundromat that provides luggage storage for 2e on the northside of Termini.

It's on Via Milazzo #20 just after the cross-street Via dei Mille. There is a yellow laundromat sign hanging over it easy to see from down the block and it's called 'Bolle Blu', in the window is a sign saying '2euro Deposit Baggages Open 0800-2200'.

She also posted that this place also has luggage storage and another poster said that they had used it; "Navigator Internet Cafe on Via Marghera between Via Marsala and Via Magenta".

5 euros first 5 hours per bag - try to consolidate small bags if possible!

I wouldn't rely on the older info as many internet cafes have closed (everyone has smart phones these days). The Rome tourism website lists laundry businesses and there isn't a Bolle Blu listed at that address on their website.

kybourbon; I didn't have too much faith 6yrs later in the Internet Cafe location either.

But Bolle Blu is still in business it seems except it's 2 blocks further up and 2 blocks over from Termini.

Too far away now whereas before it was just a short block away.

Good news is they have a nicer place according to the photos:). Maybe years of unreported 'luggage storage' income helped them expand:).

I stored my luggage at Rome's FCO airport during a 7 hour layover on the way to Palermo. It is located at the far end of the international terminal and seemed very secure to me. The cost is 4 euros per bag for up to an 8 hour period few years back.
