Rome - June

Hi,

My friend and I will be in Rome from June 1st - June 4th. Anyone know what weather will be like and also will it be crowded at that time. Also we are staying at the Abitart hotel on Via Pellegrino Matteucci. Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Is it a good base for visiting the major attractions?

Thanks in advance.
Annette

Hi Annette - Not central, but convenient enough. It's close to Piramide on Metro Line 'B' - which is 2 stops from the Colosseum/Forum. So ... you can be in the centre in 10 mins.

Most of the main sights (- except the Vatican) are within walking distance of the Colosseum. The Vatican is a 10 mins bus ride from nearby Piazza Venezia. There are frequent buses from the Colosseum throughout the centre.

If you plan to use public transport a lot I suggest you get a 3-day pass.

My forecast for 1st-4th June is -
- Blue sky and sunshine. Temp approx 30C. :)

Hope this helps ...

Steve

When we were in Rome we took a bus ride to see the Piramide Caio Cestio which is the Piramde referred to in the Metro stop name and is very near your hotel.
So I know you can take a No. 23 bus from the Vatican area, along the Tiber in trastevere and onto Via Marmorata which takes you to the "piramide." I am not quite sure where the 23 bus route goes beyond the piramide area but eventually it heads back along the right side of the Tiber at the edge of the ghetto and to the VAtican area. You could get a bus map to be sure of the route for this and other buses.

I think it will be unusually rainy in Rome June 1-4--high winds as well.
