Rome in 3 days
 

I will be in Rome in September for 3 days. I know there is a lot to see and it is stressfull to organize what to see first, etc.
I want to go to Rome with a plan all mapped out. Can anyone help me with organzing what to see in three days (Sunday to Tuesday)

It's impossible to see *everything* in Rome even in 3 months. You have to decide first what you want to see. We cannot and will not do all your homework!

We too are visiting Rome in a couple of weekss for 3 days. And like you, I like to have everything planned out. I am currently putting together our itinerary. I would say to figure out exactly what you want to see, checks there hours of operations and don't try to rush and see everything at once. I got a notebook and wrote everything down and I bought Rick Steves Rome book which has a lot of advice and tips.

Under destinations on this website there is a 'best of rome in 5 days' itinerary. It gives some idea of what's to see in certain areas and groups them together. Naturally you can't do 5 days in 3, but I think you can probably narrow it down to the things that interest you the most.

I'll be there for 3 days in September as well. I'm still working on finalizing our plan of attack, but a good source to start with is Frommer's "Rome day by day". They have a ton of pre-planned DIY tours that hit the major sites. It includes the bus/metro stops, amount of time to spend at each place, and site highlights and general info. They've even included which restaurants to stop at along the way.
It is a full color book with a lot of pictures and maps, even a tear-resistant fold out map which will come in very handy.
This book has been extremely useful in planning my trip.

For antiquities, there's the Roman and Imperial Forums, the Capitoline Hill museums, the Pantheon, the Baths of Caracalla, the Palatine Hill, the Ara Pacis, Sacra Torre Argentina, and the Colliseum. For art, there's the Borghese and other galleries, and lots of art in churches, for example Caravaggio, Michaelangelo, Bernini, and whoever painted the great ceiling in St. Ignazio. For city scenes, there's Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, and the Spanish Steps. And then there's St. Peter's and the Vatican Museum. To organize this, I'd try to group things geographically in the city and then map out what you're going to do in each time segment. Good luck.

Someone is a grouch. marep asked for help with organizing which is what this site is for. marep, I will only have 3 days in Rome as well and after reading trip reports and all the info on Fodor's, I researched all the places everyone helped alert me too. Find one or two major things a day and then the rest of the time will be for eating and just wandering around for shopping and more places to explore. You have plenty of time to put your priorities in order and change them a few times. Try not to ruin your trip by stressing to see too much. You will find that the planning is actually a lot of fun.
