Rome Hotels near Termini

Hello -

My husband and I are going on a bit of a last minute trip to Italy (our 'honeymoon' - a few years late) We arrive and depart from Rome - (first few days there plus Venice and Cinque Terre are covered) but I've run out of steam trying to find something decent on short notice for our last night in Rome before a 9 am flight back to the States this June 7th (via Fiumicino). We'll be coming in by train probably fairly late (6-10pmish) from Cinque Terre so would like to be able to walk easily to and from Termini (10 mins?). I have heard this area is not the greatest but I think we can manage provided the hotel is secure. We are trying to stay under 150E. Normally I really don't mind budget hotels and since it is a matter of tight timing and we will probably be too tired to enjoy it, I should just book one of the options around, but I just can't get past not wanting our last night to be, 'blech, glad we're going home.' (It's his first time out of N. America and my first time booking such travel for more than myself as a carefree 20something) Any suggestions? (Beehive is full of course and I'm a little shy of their b&b listings)

Thanks for your ideas!

I've stayed at Hotel Kennedy, a 10 minute walk or less from Termini. It's very nice.

We like to stay at the St.Regis Grand--in the Marchioness of Tavistock Suite-- but that is $1200 a night.

A good hotel is the Aberdeen, but it has a following and it is difficult to book a room.

Also, Hotel Canada and Moses Fountain.

Now, now, Adrienne, you must not have people WALKING from train stations with luggage!

That is a big no-no here in Fodorville.

Just wait.

Someone will be along shortly to yell at you.

Thin, going away

I stayed at Hotel Canada and it was great. Not too far from the Termini. I had a lovely room and the service was very good.

Check what time your airline requires check-in. The earliest Leonardo Express doesn't leave Rome until a few minutes before 6 and that only gets you to the train station at the airport around 6:30. You still have to trek to the terminal and catch a shuttle bus to the check-in area. You might not get on the first shuttle bus and have to wait. You might want to consider a car service.

The Gea di Vulcana hotel took me.about 10 minutes, not too bad.

LOL Thin! You're so right but I thought I could get away with it since the OP mentioned walking to a hotel!
