Rome Hotels in Piazza NOvona area
 

We have narrowed down our neighbourhood to stay in Rome.. we ended up going with what a lot of you suggested on here.. the PIazza Novona area and near the Pantheon.

What hotels would you suggest and do you have opinion on any of the following hotels:

1) Imperium Suite Navona

2) Hotel Adrianno

3) Relais Maddalena

We are looking for a clean, comfortable and with somewhat modern with a good breakfast buffet. I have read a lot of the threads and reviews on tripadvisor and I'm so confused! there's so much out there. Looking to spend around $130/night.

€95 ($130 USD) for the historic center of Rome is a VERY low budget. Your room expectation should be for what you would expect to get in central NYC, London or San Francisco for the same price.

They all three look OK.
Basic, but acceptable. Good locations. Read the Tripadvisor reviews, you'll get more feedback on these particular ones.

If you find one at any of the three above for your budget, I would grab it. Again, at €95, it won't be the best rooms of the house but the "standard double". Small room but en suite.

We've stayed there twice in the last few years, and look forward to staying there again. On the beautiful Via dei Coronari, literally a 5-minute walk from Piazza Navona.

You would find many more hotels in your price range if you stayed in the area around Termini. You could get to many attraction by taking the Metro.

Look at a Metro map of Rome in this area and try and find a budget hotel nearby.

A good hotel is Hotel Aberdeen near Repubblica. It gets high marks from Fodorites.

If I was going to stay near Piazza Navona, I would definitely splurge and stay at Hotel Raphael, which is just an alleyway from P N.

I just returned and rented a lovely apartment in that area that would be in your price range. That said, you'd have to find your own breakfast, ie. buy some fruit and coffee to have at the apartment or go to a nearby cafe--oh the agony! =) Happy to share contact info if it's of interest.

When are you going? Price varies quite a bit depending on season. The Navona area is a prime location. Also check on Venere.com for prices and reviews.

I would forgo the breakfast for a better room/hotel, and eat breakfast in a cafe.

this will leave room/money for a bigger lunch! [i love the food in Rome and would much rather sit down for a proper lunch than eat a hotel buffet breakfast which is the same every day]

you can get a cappuccino and cornetto for about €4 in a little cafe.

For once i would agree about staying near termini to cut down on your costs, or book an apartment instead.

I personally enjoyed staying in Navona and being able to wander around the area at night (Pantheon and Trevi are stunning at night). I was right off the main street through the area--so borderline Navona/Campo. Everything is a trade-off. Depends on what is most important to you. No matter which you decide, you'll have a great time!

For $130/night around paizza Navona you can get yourself a nice apartment, but doubt that you would get even a mediocre hotel. Consider the apartment option. When it comes to staying in Rome for 3 plus days, an apartment is the way to go.
