Rome Hotels for families?
 

Hello! In August, my family of 5 is headed to Rome. We currently like in Germany and are driving so we will have our car with us, but would like to park it once we get to our hotel and not have to drive until we leave. Our children are 12,7 and 3. Any ideas of good places to stay for families? Also, are there parks and so we can stop and let the kids play a bit while we are sightseeing?

We stayed in a quad at the Santa Chiara. Maybe the can add a rollaway for your youngest. It was a 2 room suite, with a duoble in 1 room and 2 twins in the other. Down the hall frmo us there was a larger apartment type suite, where a family of 5 was staying.

Just booked at Hoseanum Palace Roma, gets great reviews and not too bad pricewise. Rooftop terrace, close to everything....booked it on venere.com

Have you tried www.venere.com for hotels? You can search by area, star level, or type of property (apt., hotel, B&B).

Try www.mappy.com for parking. After the map of Rome loads(you may have to use the zoom), click on car park under practical info on the right side. A list of car parks in Rome will appear below the map with clickable links for rates, phone #'s, and hours. The links will appear numbered on the map.

Little if any will come up on Venere for a room for 5. Few come up for 4. Hotels may only have 1 or 2 larger rooms, and frequently don't even mention them on their own website or booking sites. You have to contact hotels directly and ask how they can accommodate a family of 5. I like to deal with hotels directly for my family because my kids don't like sharing a bed, so I also ask about the bed configuration.

Borghese Gardens is a gret park for you kids. Silly as this sounds, I had my kids count the spanish steps by going up and down. My hisband and I just wanted to sit and rest for a few minutes and they had energy to burn. They went up and down a few times and never came up with the same answer, but it kept them busy & amused while we rested.

Just got back with my two boys, and Hosianum was very nice, rooftop terrace, and awesome location. It is in an alley right near Capitol Hill, 5 blocks to The Pantheon, Palazzo Navonna, the ruins, etc. We had room 105 which was two rooms, and the front one could easily have had a roll away brought in. Staff was efficient albeit not overly friendly, but good enough. I would stay there again in a hearbeat.
