Rome hotels

What area is best to stay in Rome?

Best has no meaning. It is all relative and personal opinion. We always stay in the Termini area towards the Vatican - south of Termini. We prefer it for the convenience to the transportation hub - bus, trains, trams. We prefer using public transit over taxis. Termini is a busy neighborhood but we have found several great, local restaurants, and nice hotels that a bit more reasonable than hotels in the popular tourist areas. Others will claim the area is seedy but all in the eyes of the beholder. We like it.

I prefer the Piazza Navona area.

Central to everything not as dodgy as Termini area

Raphael my fav over all...

But best value for me bidding www.priceline.com

for 5 stars in that area amazing deals up to 70% off

sometimes almost always off season...

This is my favorite place on earth.
It's close to the Spanish Steps.

I like it because it has a lot of amenities, but isn't a "luxury" hotel, it has lovely rooms, friendly and helpful people work there and it's in a wonderful location. It's in a very walkable spot, but also is a block or two from a Metro stop, and there are 2-3 taxi stands not far away in case you're in a hurry to get somewhere. IMO, couldn't be more perfect!
