Rome Hotels

I'm going to book a Rome hotel and would appreciate any views on the contenders.

Hotel Villa San Pio (Pros: gets GREAT review in rants. Cons: more than the others. Location remote?)

San Anselmo (Pros: gets good comments. Less than the San Pio Cons: not freqwuently discussed. Location remote?)

San Carlo (Pros: location? Cons: Doesn't seem quite as nice as the other two. Location noisey?)

Please don't offer any new suggestions. I already hopelessly confused!

Thanks.

Yvan, among these three, I'd advice first Villa San Pio and second Sant'Anselmo.
Villa San Pio is in the heart of the green quarter Aventino; it's very comfortable with rooms with indipendent entrance and garden.
Sant'Anselmo, too, is located at Aventino, this silent and clean quarter of Rome.
Rooms are comfortable.
When the weather is fine, breakfast is served in a pretty garden.
Have a nice trip.
Ciao.

We too are thinking about the San Pio. Not sure if the location is as convenient as the Due Torre or La Residenza- see other postings on these two near Pza.Navona. Sally

The Aventine area where the hotels are located is nice but not that convenient to many of the sights, such as those in the Centro Storico, ie., near the Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Campo di Fiori.

I checked the San Carlo reception a few years ago.. It was simple.. and looked a bit shabby to me.. Its location, however, is great!

Regards,

S

Hello Ellen,
The Hotel Due Torri seems well situated within the Centro Storico. Is the Aventine area really that far off the beaten path? The San Pio raves on this site suggest that it is well located- only one mentions adding perhaps 10-15 minutes walking time. Of San Pio and Due Torri, which is more ideal. Thanks, Sally
