How does "tight budget" translate into actual euros or dollars per night for all 4 adults?

See www.eurocheapo.com

I assume that "tight budget" means less than $300 (USD) per night for a room for two.

Best wishes,

Rex

Maria,

How long will you be in Rome? I ask because, depending on how you prefer to travel, renting an apartment *can* (it isn't always) be more economical. It's worked for me in rome, but I'm not a hotel-type of gal.

If this is something you might be interested in, let the board know--lots of recs. Also you could check out slowtrav.com.

Hmmmph, I thought tight budget was under $150 for two. Though my rich Uncle Richard would think under $500 would be a tight budget.
