ROME - Hotel + location recommendations
I'm off to Rome in August for 4 nights.
Can you please offer some recommendations as to where to stay in Rome, my budget is limited to 90 euros for a double room per night. If you are unable to provide recommendations, could you please advise which area is best to stay. I want somewhere that makes travelling on Metro and foot easy, and also somewhere that is close to decent nightlife (bars as opposed to fancy restaurants). And finally I don't want somewhere that is seedy. I hope this is not too much to ask!! Thanks in advance Jamie |
I always suggest Centro Storico. You are in the middle of old Rome and there is something around every corner. But the best part is that the traffic is limited because of the narrow streets.
We found other parts of Rome to be just like many American cities: big hotels, busses, zooming traffic, etc. I don't have a recommendation in your price range, but if you do a search on budget hotels in Rome, you should find some recommendations. Good luck. |

You "want somewhere that makes travelling on Metro and foot easy..."
No matter where you stay, you'll be doing a lot of walking. The Metro isn't particularly helpful in seeing the main sights. We were in Rome for 10 days last October and never used the Metro. We used cabs to/from the train station on arrival and departure. I agree with Lorac: Centro Storico! |
And I must agree with Jean. Italy is an exhausting vacation if you are sightseeing the entire time. Not only are you walking all day, but it always seems as though it is all uphill!
The best advice is to wear the most comfortable, broken-in shoes/sneakers you own and take taxis...they are easy to find and not expensive. |
