Rome Hotel Location
I am seeking a hotel in Rome prior to a cruise for 2 nights. We want something close enough to major attractions and able to walk and do some sightseeing. Any suggestions? It doesn't need to be fancy but clean and location is important. Thanks for any help.

We stayed at the Hotel du torri in Rome a few years ago and found the location to be great for sightseeing. We walked to the Pantheon, across the river to Vatican City and, I think, to the Trevi Fountain area. The rooms are, however, very small. I mean very small! It is difficult to find, also. I would stay there again though.

As a start, here are 4 charming, central, hotels in various price ranges. You are usually better off telephoning - sometimes the website shows it's booked when it's really not. Also, you often get the best price when you call:
Moderate: http://www.hotelteatropace.com/hotel33/uk/ A little less: http://www.residenzacanali.com/ Budget: http://www.solealbiscione.it/ Luxury: http://www.stgeorgehotel.it/ |
Thanks for your replies. On recommendation I am going with Lancelot hotel. It is within walking distance of the collesium and a great location.

Check out the Hotel White. It's directly down the street from the Trevi Fountain and close to everything.
Also, go to Gioia Mia for Lunch or Dinner. |

If you scroll down you will see in the third paragraph they suggest "not looking like a tourist or you are an easy target." Exactly my point but only a tourist would be throwing coins in a fountain or doing the Vatican. Difficult not to look like one. |
