Rome Hotel in August--Family of 4. Pool?

We're going to Rome and Milan on the way back from Israel in August. 2 very hot weeks of travel. I know that my kids would love a pool but the hotels seem either expensive or far out. Suggestions? We will drag them around mercilessly and a pool would be an incentive to see one more museum.
They are great travelers but it will be boiling.

Hello kiddoc215,

A number of years ago when our children were much younger, we stayed at a place in Rome that had a pool. Seems to me it was a Holiday Inn. The pool was actually very nice. Yes, it was not in the center of the city, but as I recall, we enjoyed it very much, and there was a bus stop in front of the property to take us wherever we needed.

Another nice thing about the place is it allowed all 4 of us to stay in the same room (easier on the budget), something not easy to find (at least back then).

If you can't find it, I'll try to hunt down my maps and get the street name.

Happy travels!

hi, kiddoc,

i just googled "hotels in room with swimming pools" and the first site that came up - rooms.net - had a whole long list of them at reasonable prices.

it's that simple. just put in your dates and you're away. [no, i know that it isn't but it's easier than you or i thought!]

good luck!

regards, ann

Here it is:
Holiday Inn (holidayinn.com website)
Rome-West
Via Aurelia

There are links to the pool. It looks very inviting, especially on those hot summer days!

But if you want to do Rome on foot and explore all the nooks and crannies, you aren't going to find a pool unless you end up in the Via Venuto/Villa Borghese area. Pricey but you get your cake and eat it too.

the St George has a great location in the old part of the city-piazza navonne, Pantheon, near the Tiber-and it has a pool.
