Rome Hotel Help!
Hello everyone I am hoping you can help me out. I need a recommendation for a good hotel in Rome for late September. Our budget is about $200 US per night, we'd like to be near either the Collesium, Pantheon, or the Trevi fountain. We are looking for something that is centralized in Rome and don't want to be too far out. Does anyone have any good recommendations that they can provide? It will be myself and my husband, we are in our early thirties. We had planned on using hotel points, but the hotel was sold out, so now I have to find a replacement. Any guidance or recommendations greatly appreciated!

Although it is not exactly where you asked, we liked Hotel Isa (http://www.hotelisa.net/hotel-isa-ro...ican-city.html ). It has been redecorated since we stayed there so I'm not sure of rates now. It is located very near Piazza Cavour where many buses stopped. We found good food in the general area as well.
Another time we stayed closer to Colosseum at Hotel Principe di Piemonte (http://www.galahotels.com/detail.asp...FYmK4AodRinu6g ). It was almost across the street from the tram and we went all over Rome using it. However, we were not impressed with the restos we found in the area. The hotel was very basic but the people running it were really great. On the web site, it says it's been refurbished. It is also close to Termini.
Do a search on Fodors for Rome Hotels and also look on Trip Advisor for reviews. Good luck!

You migh enjoy out favorite boutique hotel (small, interesting, very comfortable, good buffet bkfst, elevator, sitting garden and well located). Our family has adopted it as a favorite over the last ten years or so...<b>Modigliani</b>.
It sits on a narrow side street (Purificacion), just a short walk to the "steps" one way, and the Trevi another. We found that we could walk to almost every major site in the city, yet I'm an octogoenarian cane user.
Obviously, the owners are Modigliani aficionados... a delightful couple of whom you can read about on the web pages. My wife and I, my daughter's family, all unhesitatingly recommend it. By the way, the staff is most accesible and helpful, too.

Hi JG,
We liked our stay at http://www.hotelmaikol.com/
It is 1/2 blk from the Vittorio Emanuele metro stop.
2 stops to Barberini and 7 min walk to Trevi Fountain and another 7 to the Pantheon,
3 stops to Colesseo and a 5 min walk to the Colesium
Enjoy your visit.

jgido, you have a wide spectrum of hotels to look at. To narrow your choices you might look at the three links posted below. The Pantheon may be the most centrally located area. The Trevi is a wonderful area, yet quite touristy. Above the Colosseo, the Monti is one of our favorite areas and quite diverese. These thinks, with the best recommeded hotels by venere and booking .com guests may help you in these three areas Good Luck!

Below is my recent response to another post that you may find helpful.
I stayed at Hotel Amalfi for 7 nights in April 2011 and I loved it. I felt the location in Monte was great - the hotel is basically located on the Piazza Sta. Maria Maggiore (although the address is via Merulana). I stayed in a single as I was traveling solo and was given a very nice room with its own small balcony on the 4th floor. Very clean, good hot water, nicely appointed rooms. Bed somewhat hard for my taste (I'm used to a Dux bed) but I slept like a rock! I particularly liked that it is an easy, flat 6-7 block walk to Termini so wherever I was in Rome, I could grab a bus to Termini to get back to the hotel. I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to (except to Sts. Agnese in the far north)since everything was "downhill" from the hotel. If you like mosaics, Sta. Pressade is right next door and of course SM Maggiore has fabulous mosaics, too. Breakfast is more than adequate but not extravagant. Fresh cornetti, packaged cheeses & meats (but very good), yogurt, cold cereal. The very sweet breakfast attendant makes coffee, cappucino fresh to order. Since I was a solo senora of a certain age, she was particularly sweet to me and "drew" little flowers on my cappucino each morning. Front desk speaks very good english (excellent, really). If you need wifi, Tripadvisor has a coupon if you click the "special offer" link http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ome_Lazio.html
I've been delinquent in writing/posting a trip report or even in putting my review on Tripadvisor but I think you can see from my comments that I think this hotel is tops and I'd definitely stay there again. And, my high season rate for the single was E90 - can't beat that!
Oh, and here is their direct website:
