Anyone stay in or know anything about these hotels, location accessibility?

I cannot comment on any of the hotels directly, but the Camp Fiori area is often spoken of on these forums as a great, central place to stay in Rome.

My wife and I stayed at a convent one block off the Campo Fiori last September. It was on the Piazza Farnese - what a tremendous location I can attest. We walked everywhere, from Trastevere to the Colliseum to the Vatican to the Spanish Steps.

The via Cavour area is a bit farther removed from all except the Colliseum, and did not have near the character is the Campo Fiori area.

We stayed at the Hotel Nardizzi for 5 nights last October and thought it was a good value for the price. The room was smallish but attractively furnished, very clean, air conditioning, and the hotel had a nice breakfast terrace where on several late afternoons we enjoyed relaxing with a bottle of wine, with glasses provided by the staff. I would stay there again. However, if by "accessibility" you mean accessibility for those with mobility difficulties, there are some things you should be aware of. The reception is on the 4th floor of a building that is shared with another hotel as well as other offices / residences, and the elevator is very small, slow and can be finicky. We took the stairs up and down the 4 floors a number of times (usually just because it was faster than waiting for the elevator and we don't mind stairs, but once because the elevator wasn't working - one of the guests had neglected to shut the elevator doors and it won't work if they aren't fully closed). Also, some of the rooms, such as the room we had, are on other floors down from reception (kind of "half" floors, not sure how to describe it) and to go to the room it was necessary to go up to 4th floor reception, cross through the building, then back down a half flight or two. This wasn't a big deal for us as we are quite athletic and accustomed to multiple flights of stairs, but I can see how it would be a problem for someone who is not accustomed to stairs or who has with mobility difficulties.

jill...check out my trip report on venice & rome. we stayed at hotel smeraldo. it's conveniently located, but i would not stay here again. it's a decent hotel with clean rooms (as long as you don't get one of the smelly ones), but i was not happy with the customer service.

Jill - We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo in 2002. Absolutely great location...we walked everywhere with the exception of
St. Peters. Depends on what you're looking for in amenities- if want them don't stay here...our room was fine for us because we only want a place to sleep. Shower was small as was the elevator. We found the employees very friendly and helpful but since our stay I did read a negative thread on the hotel. It's not on a main street but ask for a room in the back anyway for a quieter location. We loved Rome...have a wonderful time.

I also stayed on Piazza Farnese, about one block from Campo de Fiori, and it was a fantastic location. We walked to everything--never took a taxi or public transport.

I miss the Piazza Farnese right now - my wife and I ended each night by sitting on the benches against the French Embassy and eating the last gelato of the day. It doesn't get any better than that, does it?

We just stayed at the Marriott Roma Flora and it was absolutely fantastic. The location could not have been better.

dwzemens- I was able to have a tour of the Palazzo Farnese,so it can get better than sitting outside!
