Rome Hotel
I am looking for a comfortable 3 star hotel in Rome. Any recommendations?

There's about a million recommendations on this forum for hotels in Rome. Give us your budget. You should also try a search here for "Rome hotels" and look at www.tripadvisor.com for reviews.

We were looking for the same thing recently until someone pointed out we could probably get a better deal staying in an apartment.
We ended up using http://www.romanreference.com/ based on them having an excellent site and we were treated very well. |
It all depends on what you want. A hotel offers you breakfast and clean towels etc as well as help in making reservations. Some people who are not familiar with a city may not want to be completely left alone, like apartment-living would give you.

We liked the Domus Julia. It's the apartment style annex to the Hotel Julia, so you get your breakfast buffet included at the Hotel's pretty breakfast room. I think it's three stars. It's close to the Spanish Steps and the Barberini Palace, on a relatively quiet street. Our twin room was spacious, clean, and our bathroom rather new. I posted a detailed trip report from May 2006.

Hi DrG, we are going to be staying at the Hotel Julia (MaureenB mentioned it in her post) great location, super reviews on many sites, and it was in our price range! Won't be able to give you a first-hand recommendation until after we return in Oct.

ALso search on Venere.com. You should narrow down by location. Some locations are certainly better than others. I like the Navona/Pantheon area, but there are other decent ones as well.
We stayed in the Santa CHiara a few years ago. The Del Senato gets many very favorable reviews. Search this board as well on ROme hotels. Many of the ones frequently mentioned here are 3 stars. |
I haven't taken my trip yet, but here's how I booked my hotels for Paris and Rome:
Go to http://www.tripadvisor.com . Search for Rome, Italy, and click on the "Hotels." link. You'll end up at http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/H...io-Hotels.html On that page, hotels are ranked by the positivity of user reviews. Scroll down until you see a hotel that's in your price range. Pore over the reviews. Choose accordingly. I picked the Hotel Lancelot (ranked #13, based on 209 user reviews) for my stay in October. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and I later saw a recommendation for the hotel in a Rick Steves guidebook. Can't wait! |
