Rome/Florence train question?
Hey, I've read most people think it's best to get tickets at the terminal for trains from Rome to Florence. However, as I am booking them for a family group of 18 does this still hold true? I just wondered if buying in bulk was easier ahead of time, or just overkill in the planning department. I've checkout out the ticket site, which was a bit confusing to me, but do-able I'm sure with some effort. Just didn't want to if I didn't have to. By the way, I need tickets Jan. 1. Thanks for any help. Jane

Jane,
When will you arrive in Rome? Will you have time to drop by the train station in advance? Mark |
If you want 18 seats together with reservations you better reserve ahead of time. Often for groups of six or more there are substantial discounts. RailEurope, though which may charge a bit higher price on Italian tickets does offer a group discount and the train fare between Florence and Rome is so cheap you may enquire with RailEurope, or one of their agents - one i've used and always recommend is BETS (800441-2387) - call and see group prices and compare with web and www.trenitalia.com.

Hi J,
For 18 people, you will get a group discount. Also, if you want to be on the same train, it would be wise to book in advance. |
Hey, thanks for the input Mark, Ira and Bob. I don't think I'll have time to visit the train station in advance Mark, which would have been a good idea probably. I'm going to check out the group discounts online and try BETS also, but as we definitely want to be together, I'll book early. Thanks guys! Jane
