WOW! I'll be in Rome mid-March, 3/15 afternoon. I will be flying out from Venice to Paris on 3/21 at night. That leaves me 7 nights 7 days exactly to enjoy Italy. I will also go to Paris and London. I also have 7 nights in 6 complete days in those 2 countries. Is it better to spend 4 nights or 3 nights in Paris vs. 3/4 nights in London. I will obviously have 3 full days in each city. The 15th day will be a wash because I have to leave London to go back home in the morning. Thanks for everything!!!

Hello All,
I think I will do Rome and Venice from what everyone is saying. I'll be in Rome 3/15 around 2pm. I will fly out of Venice to Paris on 3/21 at night. That leaves me:
3/15 (part of afternoon) - Spanish Step, Trevi and walking tour?
3/16 - ancient Rome/Pantheon, etc.
3/17 - Vatican and surroundings
3/18 - ? I was going to catch early Eurostar to Florence, but probably best to stay in Rome? Perhaps, day trip??? any suggestion?
3/19 - Rome/Venice (being a Monday most museums closed, so I don't know what to do today yet) perhaps a good day to travel???
3/20 - Venice
3/21 - Venice (until night time -- fly to Paris)
3/21 - night in Paris
3/22 - Paris
3/23 - Paris
3/24 - Paris
3/25 - London
3/26 - London
3/27 - London
3/28 Depart for USA

That's my schedule. I cannot change the flights, but everything else is flexible. Thank you for all your input!!!

As I just posted on another thread, advising somebody on an issue like this is like trying to tell somebody how to cook (or eat!) a meal. We are all so different, with different needs/values/levels of energy/attitudes.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to "do" RFV in a week, esp. if I know I'm not going to get another chance. And if that makes me a shallow person, so be it! I'm not a photo-gatherer or a detailed journalizer, and I have zero need to tell anybody I've been Here, There & Everywhere. But sometimes moving at a fast pace is a trip in itself! Just as sometimes moving at a slow pace is delicious.

As far as I've seen, there is no right or wrong way to approach travel, just as there is no right or wrong way to approach life! Ya gotta do what works for you ... and sometimes even what you think is the right way for you turns out to be the "wrong" way -- and vice versa! But it's still worth it, imvho!

Given your full itinerary, I would stay in Rome that 4th day---perhaps add Trastevere/Borghese. Then train to Venice early Monday morning. If you want a day trip, Orvieto is easy and not one you must plan in advance.

On the first day, does your flight arrive at 2pm? If so, allow 2+ hours for transport, hotel check-in. Dusk is at 5:30. You can catch a night walking tour at the Sp Steps (Angel tours--6pm). We liked this tour at night with the lighted monuments. After that, you will no doubt be ready for light dinner and bed!

I would move the Vatican visit to Friday to avoid weekend crowds. I like the balance of 4 nights Paris/3 London.
