Good morning, here are our two most
favorite ristorantes in Rome:
AMBASCIATA D'ABRUZZO, via Pietro Tacchini, 25, in the Parioli north
district of Rome, best take taxi both
ways, waiter will call for your return.
Very excellant food, crowded with both
tourists and locals., have used it for
about the last 20 years. Resvn a must.
)730P)$$$
Ristorante NIN0, Via Borgognona, 11
located just about a 1/2 block south of the Spanish Steps. Again excellant food.
resvn a must. $$$..
Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

Hi
If you just scroll down on the left, some kind person has revived a previous thread on this very same topic
You'll find it helpful I think

I've never eaten in higher-end restaurants in Rome, but in the budget category, Mario's on Via del Moro in Trestavere. It's very authentic, filled with locals and has great food. I was first taken there by locals about 20 yrs ago, I found it again last year when I was in Rome with my family. It's my favorite.

We loved Groppola D'Oro in the Campo Fiori area because the food was very good and the owner was wonderful--gave us a hug when we left! In fact we chose our rstaurants from the "Let's Go Rome" book--they were good and didn't cost a fortune.

Correction to my previous post: Hostaria Grappolo d'Oro at P. della Cancelleria 80-81,Campo dei Fiori,
ph. 06-6897080. Extremely popular upscale hostaria--won many awards.

I guess that Elaine was referring to this thread:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=74946

It's nor 80 messages below this one, just 2 hours later.

It's a good example of why I recommend citing the URL for another thread, rather than "topping" it.

"Topping" does not reverse "bottoming". Only delays it for a few hours. All posts sink. In unpredictable ways.

Best wishes,

Rex
