Rome: End of May or 1st 2 weeks June?
I am planning a 2 week trip to Rome & Venice next year with Hubby, Mom & Niece. We would prefer to go when there are less crowds (i.e. summer school vacations) from summer breaks and such; given the lst 2 weeks of May or the 1st 2 weeks of June (starting June 4) which would be less crowded of the 2? If there is no difference, which would have better weather?
Thanks for your input.

Thank you for the input. I have reread my message and realized I've made a slight error in the body of the question. I'm debating between the last 2 weeks of May and the fist 2 weeks of June.
I just checked the weather in Venice & Rome and for next week it still seems rather cool; however, I suppose that's mother nature!
Thanks all.

Hi DAJ,
I just returned from Italy and was in Rome May 15-19. The weather was bella! Not too hot yet. And the kids are still in school. A number of tourists, but it is worse in June. Rome is always hotter than Venice, I think, so you should probably start with Rome and end with Venice, as you get later in the month. But I would definitely pick May over June. BTW, we were told that the weather usually starts getting nice May 1, but this year the change didn't occur until May 15. There was a lot of rain and cold until then. That part is a crap shoot, but since you're planning the end of May it should be fine. It will be a wonderful trip.

Not a universal sample, of course - - but our three daughters are, three for three, done with school (three large universities) in EARLY May. And accordingly we have taken vacations in mid-May each of the past two years.
