Rome Day Trips
We will be in Rome for 8 days in June. Does anyone have recommendations for a good company to do day trips to Pompeii, Pisa, Florence? We will probably try to do Florence on our own just by taking the train. I just need help knowing how to do that. The company that was recommended for London (our last trip) day trips was great. Hope I can get some great Rome ones too.
Thanks! |
Pisa is an easy daytrip on your own. Take the train from Rome and you can walk to the Leaning Tower in 15 minutes. While there, visit the Duomo and Baptistery. On your way back to the train, take the small streets of the old town. There is also a nice art museum along the Arno close to the train station.

Enjoy Rome has a shuttle to Pompeii. Green Line Tours will also do Pompeii as well as a variety of places in Italy.

Hi
www.enjoyrome.com is the website. For your trip to Florence, you can buy tickets upon arrival in Rome, either at the train station at FCO or at Roma TE. You can also buy tickets online from Trenitalia. See http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34465647 |
Thanks for the info. I'll try looking at those companies. What section on the Eurostar should be try to get seats in?
Thanks! |
Hey, went to the Enjoy Rome site. Thought the Pompeii shuttle tour looked good. Have any of you been on it? If so what did you think?
Thanks! |
I have been on the Enjoy Rome shuttle to Pompeii. There was a thread about this just a couple of days ago to which I responded.
The trip was about three hours to Pompeii, including a rest stop on the way there. A little shorter on the way back, no rest stop. Very relaxing bus ride, in March there was lots of room on the bus to stretch out. We had over three hours in Pompeii, which seemed just right to me. We were back in Rome well in time for supper. |
