Rome - Da Fortunato

OK. Already posted this but it appeared on the general Europe board, so I'm trying again and I truly apologize for the duplication. This restaurant is mentioned in a new book on Caravaggio called "The Lost Painting" by J. Harr. I would like to try it on our next trip if it is really any good. Does anyone know it? It's near the Pantheon. Thanks in advance, Helen.

Even if you select Italy when you post it appears under Europe. The selection of a country is really for future searches.

Hi Helen,
Yes. It really is good.
We have eaten there several times, and the food is always delicious.

Helen,

For a slightly different take on Da Fortunato, click on your screen name, and your other post on the same topic will come up.

We ate at Da Fortunato in June 2004. It was highly recommended by a friend, and seems to be a bit "famous". We had wonderful food all over Italy, but I can't say that it stood out. In fact, my daughter and I were hugely disappointed in our caprese salad (which we loved everywhere else in Italy) as the tomatoes weren't fully ripe and tasted very bland. The linguini vongole was delicious.

We also ate there in Oct. and I agree with Eloise's response to your other post, except that no waiters hovered solicitously -- the service was only mediocre.
