Rome Colosseum and Forum

Just a few simple questions... does the combo ticket for the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill require entry in a certain order? Can you enter at the Forum first and exit by the Palatine Hill to go to the Colosseum next? Any reason why there should be entry in a certain order? Thanks.

DeeDee - the simple answer is no.

You could buy your ticket at the Palantine Hill and simply walk over to the Colsseum, never actually going into the Hill or the Forum if you want to.

here's a link to the official website:

as well as being able to reserve your ticket/s on line, you can book a tour of the underground and 3rd tier which people here have enjoyed a lot and guided tours in various languages. The main ticket is valid for 2 days so you have plenty of time to explore if you want to.

The one rule about order of entry is that the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill count as a single site, and since you can enter each site only once, you have to visit the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum at the same time.

Keep in mind also that if you buy your tickets online, you have to print them at home to be able to use them to enter the Roman Forum or Palatine Hill first. If you've chosen to pick them up on-site, the Colosseum is the only site where they can be picked up. Probably you could pick them up, and then leave without entering the Colosseum until after you've visited the other sites.

>>>Can you enter at the Forum first and exit by the Palatine Hill to go to the Colosseum next?<<<

Yes, or enter at the Palantine ticket booth and exit at the opposite.

>>>Probably you could pick them up, and then leave without entering the Colosseum until after you've visited the other sites.<<<

I believe so. There is a separate line at the Colosseum for people using passes (such as the Roma Pass) or have reserved tickets. After that pick up window, you go through a turnstyle for actual entry.

>>>does the combo ticket<<<

To be clear, that is the only ticket sold. There isn't a single entry only ticket. Even using the Roma Pass, visiting both only counts as one visit off the pass.
