Rome- Can't book tourguide/Vatican checking items question

Hi All, Everyone has been so helpful in helping me plan my 3 day Rome getaway next week. I will be traveling with my 12 y/o daughter and I'm almost all set.

I have a few last minute questions-
1)I have tried all of the people listed on this website for private touring and it's so last minute, that they are all booked. I was hoping to find someone who could pick us up at our Pantheon hotel and then do a 4hr. ancient sites tour(Colliseum, Forum, Palatine Hill). Romecabs is doing our airport transfers and I did hear from Stefano, the owner that his colleague "Marco" could show us around. I can't find any information on Marco or his skills and Romecabs is only offering an 8 hour tour which includes the piazzas. It would end up costing appx. 500 EUROS for this day and we really only wanted a half day.

2)We have booked the English Official Tour of the Vatican and we are hoping to get through St. Peter's Basilica before our 12noon Vatican timeslot. I am also hoping to only travel with my small camera and my money belt. What exactly do they make you check upon entering the Vatican and St. Peter's? Will I have to go all the back to the entrance to pick up my camera? Can I carry my purse with me? Thanks so much. Threehearts

When you say "English Official Tour of the Vatican" are you talking about the Vatican Museums/Sistene Chapel?

In answer to 2) Camera, money belt and purse are all fine for Vatican Museums/Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. What you are asked to check are things like backpacks.

Yes, I do mean the Official Vatican 2 hour tour of the museum and the Sistene Chapel. This is the one that you book via the Vatican by fax or email. Our tour starts at 12noon. We are hoping to have time before that to tour St. Peter's on our own. May be ambituous thinking. Thanks for the info on what you must check. That really helps. Appreciatively, Threehearts
