Rome Campo dei Fiori Apartment ?
I am starting to get our fall Italy trip together and want to rent an apartment in Rome and Florence. Florence is taken care of but I wanted some potential feedback for Rome. It seems that realrome.com has a good reputation here. Does anyone have any feedback about this rental?
http://www.realrome.com/propcappellari.html There are actually two studios pictured. It will be just my husband and me, we don't need a ton of room. The price seems good and the location on the map is fine but I haven't been to Rome in a while and wanted some "expert" advice. :) Thanks much! Dana |
hi, stellamarina,
looks like a great position at a very good price. not used realrome myself - have you looked them up on slowtravel? regards, ann |
We used SleepinItaly for our apt very close to Campo dei Fiori. It's a great area. Here's where my husband and I stayed for a week in January:

I haven't checked slowtrav yet on realrome. Sandi, thanks for the link. You were happy with your dealings with SleepinItaly?

Completely happen with SiL. We even had a situation where the toilet broke (the seal gave way and flooded the floor). There is a caretaker of the building on site for most of the day and he immedaitely got workers there and got SiL on the phone and the apartment owner. Within an hour and a half, everthing was fixed and we were on our way. The apt was great, the location was perfect and there's a nice grocery store around the corner.

I have stayed in that same building in another apt. I always rent through realrome. They have a very good reputation and are very easy to deal with. The location of this apt. is wonderful. Just steps away from Campo dei Fiori, but not very noisy at night, especially with the windows closed. I highly recommend this location.

My sister and I stayed in the one with, as she put it, those "little nun's beds." The apartment was as pictured, pretty exactly. Location's good, although I've stayed on "nicer" streets in Rome. However, we were perfectly satisfied for the price and found Real Rome very easy to deal with. No problems.
What exactly are you wondering? |
Thanks all. Leely, I was wondering exactly what you all told me really. Good location, that realrome is good to deal with, we're not overly concerned about noise... I'll still check out some reviews and the selections on sleepinitaly as well. I appreciate the input, I think we'll have a decision fairly soon! :)

My comment should have read "completely happy with SiL"...

LOL Sandi...at least it's Friday. I figured it was supposed to read something like that from the rest of your post!

I was just curious--some people seem to expect luxury at a low price in the very heart of Rome. That's pretty hard to find. But I liked this place and would stay there again. I'd also rent from Real Rome again without hesitation.
Enjoy your trip, wherever you stay! |
I hear you Leely! We are definitely NOT expecting luxury. Just a great, clean place in a nice location with a more reasonable price than most hotels. I am glad to hear that you would stay there again!

Hi Sandi,
I have booked the same apartment for September. Would you be kind enough to share a little more information about the apartment and the surrounding neighborhood? Bakeries, restaurants, stores, etc., etc.? Thanks very much. |
lufty13, I'll be more than glad to but I have to warn you that I will have to work all weekend so it will take me a couple of days to respond. Hope that's ok...since you have a little time.

We also stayed in the Monte di Pieta apartment mentioned by Sandi. We were quite pleased with it, except that we had a problem with a key being broken off in the main entrance door, which made it inconvenient for our SIL, in that one had to come in through the other door into her tiny room and literally climb over her bed. It was not really a two bedroom apartment. We got no help on this from SleepinginItaly, or from the owner. Other than that, the apartment was as advertised, and the locality was just wonderful.
If I were to do it again, I think I would rent the smaller studio, if it were just my wife and myself. Have a wonderful trip! :-) |
Hi Sandi,
I can certainly wait until you have a chance to write. I look forward to hearing from you and much thanks!! Chuck |
Nukesafe,
Thanks for your information and I'm happy to know that even with the small problems, you still enjoyed your stay. It puts my mind at ease. |
You are welcome, Lufty.
The Campo dei Fiori area was just superb. It was within walking distance to everything. Only a few blocks from the Tiber, and across the bridge to Trastevere, and yet within 15 - 20 minutes of Trevi. The transport system is very handy there, too. The #40 bus gets you to Termini quickly, and from there the metro opens up the rest of the city, and places like Ostia Antica. I envy you. :-) |
Hi Nukesafe,
We definitely picked the neighborhood for it's convenience and location. How far from the apartment was the bus stop? Thanks. Chuck |
Chuck,
We stayed in the Monte di Piata, which is a block or so from the Campo di Fiori. From the Campo it is a couple more short blocks North to the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. A number of bus lines run East and West along this main thoroughfare. We used the #40 that is an express that quickly gets you to the Termini. If you walk just a couple blocks east from the Campo, you come to the Via Argentina. there you will find the tram line that runs North and South, in case you want to go over the river to Trastevere. We walked to the wonderful flea market one hot Sunday morning, before we realized how easy it was to ride the tram. Have a great time! :-) |
