Rome-Calling Cards??
I will be in Rome next week and I wondered if I should buy a calling card in the U.S. or wait until I am in Rome. Any ideas in Rome where to get a calling card? This would be to make calls back to the U.S. Thanks.

There is either the NEW COLUMBUS CARD with which you can call the US even by phone booths, and the TIME CARD. Both are issued by TELECOM ITALIA. There is a Telecon shop at Termini Station, main gallery of the Forum, right before the platforms. THis is where I have seen selling these cards (I bought the columbus card there when I had to go to the US. I used it both to call Italy from the US and you can also use it from Italy to call the US). I have checked the www.telecomitalia.it web site and there are plenty of info regarding the cards.

Thank you Batuffolina for the helpful information. I'll wait and get my calling card in Italy.

Hi sunnie,
Actually, it's no longer necessary to leave calling cards. Italians are almost as informal as Americans. |
Hi you can get calling cards at most news stands and those are all over. Make sure you say you want an international card if you are planing on calling the states.
Hope you have a blast! |
I have a prepaid International phone card that I bought in Italy. I'm going back in a few weeks, and will need to make a call that is long distance but within Italy. Can I use the same card. I think I can, but am not sure.

Ira, you crack me up. I actually recieved calling cards when I graduated High School,(in the late 80's). Didn't know what they were for until I read the Gold Coast by Nelson DeMille
