Rome Apt/Via del Governo Vecchio

Help please---I had to change travel dates and my original place is now booked. There is an apartment on Via del Governo Vecchio available from Roman Reference.

Anyone know the area, apartment or agency?

Thanks, Kathy

Is it this one?

Have never seen a bad review for the agency, they seem to be fairly well regarded

Yes LaWoman, it is that one but I have now seen a few on Sleep in Italy around Via Giulia that sound great.....

Thanks discovery---I have used vrbo for a lot of house house rentals but would prefer an agency this time for Rome.

Hi Kathy, if you read some of the reviews on Slow Travel, where LA Woman directed you, you'll see that Sleep in Italy has gotten some negative reviews, which would worry me.

I think some issues, such as how good the water pressure is in an apartment, or whether there are enough handrails in the stairwells of old buildings, can be somewhat subjective.

But it does sound like several of the reviewers found that Sleep in Italy staff aren't very helpful or responsive to concerns. At least for me, that's a deal-breaker. I wouldn't want to show up in Rome at midnight, jetlagged with my luggage, then be forced to wait 90 mintues for someone from the rental office to show up (as one reviewer said happened with a Sleep in Italy rental)

With so many rental agencies to choose from, I'd be inclined to find one with good customer service.

Good luck with your search!

Wow---I only saw that one negative review---were there others? It looked like all the other ones I read were very positive. Now I am totally confused which one to work with (did you see the one review about another agency and the dirty apartment?)----hard to know!

Hi Kathy, it IS tough to find a good rental, or a good hotel or B&B when there is so much choice!

I really like the reviews on Slow Travel, because they're written by a range of people and you can get an unbiased sense of a place. (Slow Travel administrators are really careful to screen out advertisers or their plants)

Here's a link to Slow Travel's list of reviews of apartments in Rome:http://www.slowtrav.com/italy/vr/list.asp?r=Rome

I hope it works. It includes the review that LA Woman directed you to. I think I counted four bad reviews and a couple of neutral for Sleep in Italy, which maybe isn't a terrible record. There were lots of positive reviews, too. I probably care too much about where I stay, but I'd just rather go with an agency with a better record, especially on customer services. I'm not expecting five-star luxury, just owners that care.

There are some agencies that Slow Travel has designated "Favourites" because they get consistently good reviews and I'd tend to favour those.

BTW, I think you've targeted a great area to stay in. I like the Campo dei Fiori/Piazza Navona area because it's so central and there's lots of see and do.
