Rome apartment search burnout...
 

Surely, some of you can relate...

I have been looking and looking and it seems like I just can't decide. I really would like to find one that a fellow Fodorite has stayed in and liked.

I've stayed in two others. The one I stayed in four years ago is not listed on any website I can find (I know the owners often change from one to another); the other I thought was kind of overpriced AND I think the owner purposefully tried to deceive on the web ad (stating it was a 2-bedroom when, in fact, it was one bedroom with a bed in the living room as the "second bedroom"). And no other places to sit in the living room, either. The owner was incredibly nice, but I was not happy with the situation.

Does anyone have any hints on how to find an apartment you previously stayed at, but can't find on the original listing site?

Has anyone recently returned and really loved their central apartment? I'm looking for Campo de Fiori or Piazza Navona/Pantheon. 1 bedroom with a pull out in living room, or a 2 bedroom if reasonable (October, E150/night).

Sigh... Sorry. Maybe some of you can understand where I'm coming from! :)

PS I've seen everything on SleepInItaly, and most of what's on VRBO. So, if you've stayed in one of them, please do point me there. If you haven't, I'd welcome other websites that y'all find have reasonable prices. :) thanks!

Down one of the side streets from the Campo. Great location. Pics are 100% accurate. Would definitely stay here again.

Michele. Is there privacy between the two bedrooms in this unit?

Yes, they are completely separate bedrooms. There is a small window near the ceiling between the two but I think that is for ventilation as the twin bedroom doesn't have a window. I couldn't hear anything from the next room.

Rome's tourism website lists 38 apartments in the Piazza Navona/Campo area and 18 in the Campo/Piazza Farnese area. Perhaps it's listed there. You have to use the advance search and then select area.

We stayed here. Loved the location and space. The 2nd bedroom is a loft up some tight stairs.

We stayed here in early June 2012. https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=366. The owner and his family stays upstairs. Speaks little English but we managed to get by. Good restaurants downstairs. Great location and within walking distance to Navona and Pantheon and most other attractions.

ps Indy dad- thanks, but I'm not into the sleeping lofts thing. We both snore, and lofts don't provide any sound barrier. :)

The restaurants downstairs wind down at about midnight but it was not so much a problem with us cos we sleep late anyway. The nice trade off is you get buskers coming round in the evening. We had some guy on an accordion and a saxaphone playing lovely jazz which is really nice. There is a small market that sets up every morning in the piazza. Got our supplies of fruits there. The apartment is clean and nice and everything works. There is a shower with toilet and one with just a toilet. Works for our family of 5. The only inconvenience is the washing machine which is located up on the terrace (beautiful terrace and the owner has a beautiful garden). You need a key to access it but if you tell the owner, he will leave it open for you. I think they lock the door on the terrace at night but shouldn't be a problem during the day. He even supplied us with detergent for the machine. We were quite happy with the apartment and would stay there again if we ever end up in Rome again.

I've stayed here (https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=230) twice, and I would recommend it. You said you were looking for the Navona/Campo di Fiori/Pantheon area, but I really enjoyed staying in Trastevere.

There are other problems with lofts (other than the absence of soundproofing): They often have a very low ceiling and they're often up some crazy steep steps or even a ladder. If you have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, both of those things can provide a startling experience. :-)

We stayed in the Balestrari apartment that Michele_d mentioned above. It was very clean, convenient to the Campo, and had a washing machine. Wardrobes in the bedroom for hanging your clothes. Small couch in living/dining area.

I would definitely stay there again. Only potential downside (for some people) is that it is up a few flights--but not an unreasonable number. (I think it is second floor European.)
