Rome apartment

We'd like to rent an apt. in Rome. I'm wondering if anyone has stayed in one that they would highly recommend.

Thank you

Welcome to Fodor's. You'll see a search box up at the top of the page - a lot of questions have been discussed often, and the search box will take you to the previous discussions.

I found sleepinitaly.com thanks to recommendations here, and they were great to work with. Lots of choices.

You would need to post your budget and what amenities you might need.

Our budget is around $200/night - but we'd like to go lower if we can. Amenities would include being walking distance to the center and air conditioning.

Another idea we had was staying in a monastery. Anyone have a good experience staying in one in Rome?

Thank you

Stayed here a while ago. We enjoyed this quirky apartment. Walk to Colosseum, supermarket close by. Subway station near apt was closed when we were there but should be open now. Great location, nice hosts. We would stay there again.

How many people/bedrooms? Location preference?

My husband and I stayed here in May and thought it was great.

In Trastevere which we loved, tiny balcony that was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or morning coffee, great price, suited our needs well. The owner, Carlo, was great.

Thank you for your replies - and links. The vrbo and sleepinitaly apartments are not available and the holidaylettings one is only for 2.

Yes, sorry for not including that info. We need room for 4 (2 adults and 2 children) - I am not sure about location. I would like a quaint, old area - near to attractions - as we'll have kids (they are 11 and 12) and would like to walk around as much as possible. It would also be nice to be near to little restaurants or groceries.

Another idea we are flirting with is staying in a Monastery. Has anyone had a good experience in one? The curfew doesn't bother us, as we have kids and will be home by 11p anyway.

Thanks!

Sleep in Italy has a ton of apartments - unless your trip is very soon, I'd be surprised if they were all booked. You can search their site for areas, bedrooms, etc.

We stayed in this one and it fits all your criteria. Not luxury, but certainly adequate and a great location. The main drawback was that it was on the fourth floor (no elevator).
