Rome Apartment
 

Ok- I've searched past messages- gone on a ton of websites including those recommended and still can't seem to find a place. So, if anyone has any suggestions-please let me know :)

We are going to Rome Oct. 13-16 (3 nights) - we have three couples (ages 40's & 50's) and one 15 year old. I thought it might be nicer as well as more economical to find an apartment. We would like to stay in the city- no preference to any particular area- just immersed in the culture! We would require three bedrooms and the 15 yo could likely sleep on a sofa. I've searched vrbo as well as others and just keep having a hard time finding any apt.'s with 3 beds/baths etc. While some apartments have a minimum of 5 nights or a week, there seemed to be plenty that didn't. I think the problem I'm having is the size of the place. There are many small apt.'s but not too many 3beds/3 baths.

Any suggestions would be great and I appreciate everyone's work on this forum- you've all be invaluable to me in planning trips.

I was stuck on the sofa bed on a trip one time and didn't get any sleep as a result. No privacy. The person on the sofa can't go to bed when they want because others are in their room or walking through. You will also have some people that want to get up early and will walk through the living room to the kitchen waking your son. I suggest you get a couple of separate apartments in the same building.

This is a no brainer; two adjacent/nearby aparments. Email agencies with your request. Agree about a traveler getting stucked in the sofa-sleeper when there is already quite a crowd....

I agree that sofa bed sleepers get no privacy and its not as comfortable.

make sure you stay as central as possible. it saves time and stress. I have stayed near Vatican, Trevi and Campo di Fiore.
I love the Campo area best.

Rome Sweet Home is a good suggestion, they're super precise, and I like that about them. For the past couple of years I've been using Leisure in Rome and getting great service. They've got mother tongue English speakers working for them which saves A LOT of confusion when organizing things for guests, and are also really together as far as an agency goes. Plus, they have great selection, and a 3 night minimum stay policy. Here's the site address: www.leisureinrome.com

By the way, due to this year's economic issues, they've got a lot of great deals and I've been very lucky to take advantage of a few of them this spring and summer!

Definitely go for two apartments nearby if possible.

I'd try to get one with a fairly roomy lounge/ dining area so you could all meet and / or eat together. The second apartment could be a small studio to save $ or even a hotel room nearby would work too.

Palazzo Olivia is a complex of several apartments that could be combined.

We rented through realrome.com a few years ago. I know that they have several options for apartments in the same building, and the prices are very reasonable. The two apartment approach does sound like your best bet.

My husband and I rented a 2 BR apartment with our then-16 year old son two years ago. We were glad no one had to sleep on the sofa bed. In addition to being uncomfortable for the person sleeping there, this type of arrangement makes it hard for others to use the living area. My husband and I liked to get our coffee and a quick breakfast and go out to walk in the early mornings, leaving our son to sleep in. This would not have worked nearly as well if he had been sleeping on a sofa bed.

It is located in Piazza Barberini across from the metro; at the end of Via Veneto; around the corner from the Spanish Steps; next to bus stops; very convenient location; close to food/shops. However, keep in mind that it is in a busy area; for convenience, not ambience! But we enjoyed the convenience. For ambience we stay in apartments near Piazza Navona.

It is a building of several apartments; small elevator (1 person with bags or 2 people without bags) for hauling bags up & down; locked entrance (you get keys); 24 hr. front desk (very convenient for questions, directions, help, etc); free puter with internet in lobby; tvs with cable stations; kitchenettes (small fridge, sink, micro). It was clean; bath was U.S. size with shower only; daily maid service incldg linens; 2nd bedroom had queen pull out couch (not that comfortable, but ok); we had street view & it was very noisy with window & shutters open, but we like to watch the action; they have garden views; front desk folks were friendly, helpful, & knowledgable; would go there again. We walked from the train station to the residence; not close, but not too far if you have 1 wheelie bag.

I saw a review where people complained about some noise from the street in the yellow apartment and another that said the red apartment was quiet so be sure to check reviews.

Hello there, I stayed in a 3 dorms appartment with 2 bathroom, I agreed that this is hard to find a flat with what you are looking for but this one might be good for you
