Rome & Pompeii

Hi
We are planning a trip to Rome at Christmas with a side trip to Pompeii in the early new year. Does anyone have any tips or information specific to travelling at this time of year.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi D,

Do you have any specific questions?

Do you know how to get to Pompeii?

Hi

Yes specifically, We are arriving on Dec 23 and have a self catering apartment. We will need to get a few groceries but are concerned about when the city shuts down for Christmas. Will there be sufficient time on the 24th to get to a little grocery?

We know how to get to Pompeii and have investigate the train schedules etc. I was just wondering if there are any reduced hours at the ruins for the holiday period. Of course they are closed on Christmas and New Years but other than that if anyone know of reduced hours druing the period.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Topping this thread with interest. We are heading to Rome (1st visit) 24 Jan. I got talking to an Italian gentleman who owns a cafe in Melbourne on a quick visit on the weekend. He is going 'home' for xmas and he has offered to meet us in Rome and take us out to dinner.
when I mentioned that I would like to go to Pompeii he has very kindly offered to 'drive' us! I am so excited, to be shown around by a native.
