Hi
My husband and I are going to Rome, Siena and then Florence in October. Thanks for the candid information. It will be really helpful for us. We are planning spend 4 nights in each of the three cities, train to Siena from Rome, rent a car in Siena and tour the city and Chianti Country, then return the car in Siena and train to Florence...while in Florence we hope to bus out or train to Pisa and Lucca....did you get to Chianti Country ... any comments on the plan we have made....? We are staying in the Lucchesi in Florence, The Minerva in Siena and The Bailey in Rome. Thanks so much!
J.

Thanks chuck for the info. Im off to Firenze and Roma too- next week. I know I should not be going in August when half the population of the Western world will be there...but too late. Im going for a wedding.
The thing is i wanted to know whwther you or anyone else has been to the Piazza santo spirito at night when the music starts etc. Heard about it and wanted to know if it was good. Also meant to be similar stuff going on at night at another piazza - i beleive called piazza della liberta? Could be wrong spelling.
Anyway I was curious! It sounds fun but is it just a crowded mess?

Chuck: Thanks for the tips! My husband and I are travelling to Italy for 2 weeks beginning August 31. Plan to fly into Milan and travel to Florence (3 nights), Rome (6 nights) and Venice (4 nights) by train. Looking particularly into a very nice, romantic restaurant in Florence for that Saturday night to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary ... any suggestions? Also, we are staying at a small B&B, "Residenza Giula" on Via Porte Nuove in Florence .. any insight on this place/location?

Debbie, Restaurant in Florence I would recommend is LA GIOSTRA, Borgo Pinti 12/r, Florence, Italy, Phone: 055/241341
The wine decanting process was quite a show. Look it up on Fodors, Florence Restaurants for other reviews.

Can't help with you location question. Enjoy your trip!

Chuck
Chuck,
I liked your post as I am planning to go to Rome and Florence in October. One of my main priorities is shopping. How did your hotels locate to the better shopping in each city. Also, what was the price of your room.

Hello Chuck and all others on this board. My boyfriend and I are going to Italy during Thanksgiving week this year, specifically Venice for 2 nights, Florence for 2 and Rome for 4. We are very overwhelmed with all the attractions and restaurant choices. Do you have any recommendations on how we can get the most out of our 8 nights? Also, we have arranged for rail transporation between cities. Do we need to call ahead for seats? How does that work? Any advice will be helpful. As you can tell, this is my first of many journeys to Europe. Thanks.
