Rome airport transportation

We are considering taking a taxi rather than the train to and from our hotel near the Termini. I have heard though that traffic is so bad it can take a long time and be costly. Our hotel says they have contracted with them for the rate of 55 euro for 3 people. I am worried about how much time to allow to get to the airport though we will be leaving on Easter Sunday morning and I can't imagine it will be busy then. Our flight is at 10 am.

Hi

I only have experience with the train (Leonardo Express) and that worked out great for us as we lived close to Termini. Here is my trip report with pictures: http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there :d

Use Rome Shuttle Limousine (www.romeshuttlelimousine.com). Cost is 35 euros for up to 3 people. Absolutely excellent service, door to door. Search here and you'll see almost universal agreement.

I used Rome Cabs too in November. Very professional and right on time.

sjde53,

I used Rome Cabs in December, actually it was New Year's Eve day (which was a Monday).

They picked us up at our Hotel near Termini (on Via Firenze) at 7am, for a 10am flight. We got to the airport in 30 minutes. There was hardly any traffic on the road that day, which may not always be the case for a Monday morning, but I didn't know what the traffic would be like and tend to take an over abundance of caution when planning travel time to airports!

We were very pleased with Rome Cabs and the price for 2 of us in a private sedan was 45 Euro.

I thought there was a set taxi fee (as of a year or so ago)in Rome for the airport. It seems like it was 40€, but that could have changed. Rome Shuttle Limousine is the best deal since the Leonardo train would be 33€ for three people.

There is a set 40 euro price from the airport to the city center for regualted taxis. Don't get in an unregulated cab which are the ones that jump on you when you first exit the airport. Stand in the taxi queue right outside the door.
