Rome advice

Julie,
The Zanardelli happens to be on an extremely busy and noisy thoroughfare. Although it is well-placed for several places of interest, eg Piazza Navona and the Vatican, I found nothing in particular to recommend it otherwise. I would not go back there. Sorry I can not be more positive or offer alternative recommendations on accommodation in Rome, but I just wanted to warn you of the noise there in case that is an issue for you.
Good hotel-hunting!

I believe that the Residenza Zanardelli was included in the recent National Geographic Traveller listing of Twelve Hotels with a View for under $135.

You can probably find the complete issue of the magazine and that article at your public library.

Best wishes,

Rex
We stayed in the Hotel Residenza near the Via Veneto and it was very nice. I think it cost around $180 a night. The url is:
http://home.venere.it/roma/la_residenza/

Rome in April is like our spring here-May can get in the 80's during the day and August can be oppressive.

I would definitely GET AIRCONDITIONING-and when you contact the hotel ,make sure the hotel ROOMS are airconditioned- a lot of times they say air conditioned, and it is just the lobby and public spaces.

Julie. We stayed at the Residenza Farnese just recently. It was 145 Euros per night for a double.
It is on a quiet one way street just off the Piazza Farnese.
It is not as centrally located as the Zanardelli, in my opinion, being about a 15 minute or so walk from the Piazza Navona.
But the hotel is lovely and they have airconditioning.

Stayed at the Residenza Zanardelli for three nights in early March and found it very quiet, unlike a previous poster who stated it was extremely noisy. This small hotel (6 rooms) is very centrally located and we walked everywhere. Breakfast is in a small room but was more than adequate. Price was 110 Euros per night. The next time I return to Rome I will definitely try for a room there.
