We are finding that searching the internet for Bed and Breakfast or decent budget minded hotels is overwelming us. <BR>Looking for BandB, apartment, or hotel in good location for a family of five. <BR>Seems as tho Pantheon/Spanish steps area great location but kind of limited and pricey for 5 people. <BR>We have found decent prices in Termini and Coleseum area, but understand these are bad locations in bad part of town. Seems to me if we are close to a metro it wouldnt matter, but am concerned about definition of &quot;bad&quot; part of town. <BR>Any advice or recomendations?

2 budget hotels frequently mentioned here are Pensione Panda and hotel smeralda. I think they are borth in very good locations. Try text searching on their names here for 1st hand info.

All in all I,ve spent almost a year in Roma on 5 or 6 different trips and I always stay at The Hotel Navona on Via dei Sediiari 8, which is in a perfect location about halfway beteween Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. It's location is central enough in the city that you never need to use any public transportation. Give them a call at 06-686-4203, ask for Cory (who is Australian and obviously speaks English. He may even have an apartment you can rent depending on how long you'll be there.

Hi,<BR>In June 2001 we stayed at Nardizzi Americana very inexpensive with breakfast provided. Right across the street from the department of defence therefore lots of police around all the time. Within walking distance to most of the major sights except for the coliseum.

Website for Hotel Smeraldo is www.hotelsmeraldoroma.com<BR>We stayed there earlier this year, the area near Campo dei Fiori is great, narrow atmospheric laneways and a great market in the Campo as well as good cafes etc. It's close enough to walk to all the main sites of interest.<BR>There are other reasonably cheap hotels in the same area, like Campo dei Fiori, Pomezia and Albergo del Senato (I think there are 2 hotels with VERY similar names, one is cheap the other is not).<BR>www.venere.com is another good site to check.<BR>Kay
