Rome accomodations..wow, book early..

I'm contacting places now about my trip in October and every place I've contacted in my price range (as of now, under 150e a night) is all booked up! Settled on Le suite di via Ottaviano, which was recommended my a Fodorite here and which had very nice reviews on trip advisor. It's close to the Vatican, which isn't really where I wanted to stay but it's also right by a metro stop, so I'm happy with it. 120e a night, not bad.

But wow, book early. I haven't even booked my flight yet! Usually the flight comes first but something told me to start looking at hotels now.

Emailed about the Scavi tour, hoping to hear from them (though I doubt I will until September). So things are shaping up.

I'm with you... last March, I tried to book a room for my in-laws for a stay in August at the 2 Daphne Inn locations to no avail. I've been to Rome the past two Augusts, and haven't had trouble at all finding hotel rooms... and usually have gotten their low to mid-season rates.

I seem to remember the NY Times recently doing an article on how busy Rome has become.

Forgot to add this...

Have you tried B&B Banchi Vecchi? I stayed there in August 2004 and was very pleased. It was 120 euros/nt at that time. It is a few blocks from Campo dei Fiori.

amarena, thank you for that recommendation--i looked at the website and it looks lovely, and i read some other reviews--I just sent them a booking form. The price is right and the location is perfect! Hopefully they have a room for me!

I have booked Best Bed and Breakfast at the Pantheon site (they have one also near Vatican) for 2 nights in October. They are 130 Euro per night for 2, including what is written up as an amazing breakfast and I am hoping all the reviews I read on trip advisor are right on. You could try them as well.

MissZ. I hear you! It took me quite a while to find an apartment for my stay in Rome (October 3-8). The good news is we got an apartment that we are excited about in the Pantheon area (one of our 3 choices). We did some itinerary changes (going to Rome last), which seemed to help.

Have you thought about renting an apartment? We rented through sleepinitaly.com since it had a lot of good recommendations and we are paying 110 Euro/night, which I think is pretty nice.

Make that "reasonable," not "nice"!

I don't know if there is any availabilty in October but you may want to try these apartments. We have reservations for the 2 bedroom this Oct but they have a 1 bedroom also in the Roman Forum.
