Rome Accomodations

I guess this is really a two part question. We have been having trouble finding accomodations in Rome for a trip this October (we'll be there in about two weeks). Any recommendations on where to stay? We prefer to stay under E160/ night if possible.

We are also debating saving Rome for another trip. We do, however, have a morning flight out of Rome so we would need 1 night accomodation with easy access to the airport. Any Recommendations?

Thanks

Go to www.venere.com
Get to Rome
Input your intended dates of arrival and departure, and it will search and find for you all the hotels with availability for that time period. You can either book through Venere, or you can go to some of the hotel websites directly.
If you can find accomodation, would your stay be for more than one night? I hope that you can find what you need in order to spend a day or two there!

Rome is wonderful, even if only for a day!

Hotel Corot is right next to Termini Station, I have had some american friends staying there back in 2002 and they said it was nice (not exceptional but clean and very central). Check their website: www.hotelcorot.it

Another nice and not that expensive hotel I know is Hotel Morgana, located on Via Filippo Turati, on the other side of the station, but pretty good. It belongs to the Utell chain.

We just returned from Rome on Sunday (haven't had a chance to write my trip rreport yet).

We stayed at the Daphne Inn - Trevi location. It was fantastic, and very reasonable (abour 145 Euro per night). Located 5 minutes from Trevi Fountain and maybe 10 minutes from Spanish steps. Great location. Really nice people.

You might want to have a look at lastminute.com You can select according to your budget, and even find something in a neighborhood you particularly like or have wanted to stay in!

In August we spent a week at Hotel Teatro di Pompeo. The cost was E150 a night and this included an good breakfast. The location is excellent - half a minute from Campo di Fiori and within walking distance of all the sites in Rome, except perhaps the Vatican - we took a bus there. The rooms and very clean and pleasant (not huge) and the staff are terrific. If you stay there you will feel very safe and be extremely comfortable walking to restaurants, etc. at night. We felt a bit uncomfortable walking around the Termini area even in the day time. The night before we left we stayed at the Airport Hilton and I think the rate was E210 (we prepaid and it was non-refundable). The hotel is a typical large, impersonal, place, but it is accessed from the Airport via a walkway, so it is very convenient for one night if you have an early flight.
