Rome Accomodation Advice!
 

I am looking for an inexpensive hotel/B&B/hostel in Rome. Hopefully something under 50 Euros a night. Specifically I am looking for a double room (two girls sharing) with ensuite if possible and in a good area(not necessarily super close to major sites, just not in a dangerous part of town). I have already done some research but would LOVE to get reviews of specific places from people who have been there recently. Also, will be travelling soon (before the end of December) will everything be booked up?

Is that 50Euros per person or total for the room? You may want to consider convent accomodations.

Thanks Marj, but I am a little wary because many convents seem to have very early curfews, I don't want o be locked out because I had a late dinner that went past 10pm. On the other hand, I would prefer an early curfew over a bad location. I am a little worried about staying in anything near Termini, though Fawlty Towers and Hostel des Artistes both look okay. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I just realized I didn't answer Marj's question about the price. Ideally it would be 40 to 50 Euros for the room if possible.

I was in Rome this August, and I choose to stay in a convent, here is the phone number 0039.06.5882981; It costs 26 Euro pro person, there you can't have breakfast, but the house is quite near the center, you can reach by bus (you need 5 minutes), and from the train station there is a bus, that directely goes to the convent. The only restriction is on the night: you must be in room at 23.30.<BR>My experience was positive in summer.<BR><BR>Best regaurds Paola

Laura, Have you looked at the Let's Go guide yet? I like their recommendations. I usually travel alone and pay about 40-50 euros for a single, but you might be able to find something in Let's Go east of Termini station. There are a bunch of budget accomodations there. Also, some hostels have double rooms so you'd only be sharing with your friend.

Hi!<BR><BR>I'd been recently in Rome (Nov. 25) and me and my wife stayed in Pop Inn B&amp;B just across Termini train station, everything is pretty close (even walking distance). 50 euros two person, with bathroom and a small breakfast included. The place is nice, clean and have a nice location.

My husband &amp; I just got back from Rome. We booked through &quot;Sleeping in Rome&quot; website and stayed in a brand new B&amp;B near the termini on Via F. Turati (we didnt want to drag our luggages all across town esp. after a long train ride). We were pleasantly surprised.<BR>Each room is decorated with Ikea furnishing with colour theme. We loved the big orange kitchen where we cooked our dinner. It cost us only Euro120/room for 3 nights (the bathroom is just next to our room). Will cost a bit more if you ask for ensuite rooms.<BR>From there, we just go in &amp; out of Termini riding on the train to the various sights such as the vatican &amp; colosseum. Have an enjoyable stay there. You definitely love Rome.

Oops ... must be specific in the room rates. It is Euro 120 for one room for 3 nights for 2 person. That work out to be Euro20/person/night. Very reasonable.

Hi Mike! You can check out the website http://www.sleepingrome.com/inglese/...-22/index.html We booked the one with code 20 (shared bathroom). It's located on the 4th floor (note the lift is pretty antique as you have to pull open the door both inside &amp; out). But once you reach the B&amp;B, you will be relieve cos it is very new &amp; modern. The main door at the lobby has security lock, so it is pretty safe. The price may have changed by now.
