Rome Accomodation
What B&B or hotels can people suggest in Rome. We'll arrive by plane and then travel by train. Something quiet, and cheap to reasonably priced for a 2 night stay.
|
We had a good stay at Town House Navona on Via Governo Vecchio. Very well located, quiet, not too many flights of stairs, nice staff and 118 euro for a double room. Al Baffeto
pizzaria, where I ate my best ever pizza, is nearby. |

It would be useful to know your standard for cheap to reasonable since that has no meaning by itself. We always stay in the Termini area - Hotel Sonya, Aberdeen, and Contilla. Very convenient to local transit and the train. The hotels are reasonable by our standards but may not be as quiet as you like. However, the hotels themselves are quiet. We prefer the Sonya across from the Opera House but use the Contilla for one nights since it is just one block south of Termini and across from a laundry service.

<i>"cheap to reasonably priced"</i>
Those terms are a bit subjective. To me, that means 100E-200E (2-3 star range). Below are five nice and very well located "cheap" or "reasonable" choices. You could find comparable rooms in different hotels in areas of Rome either across the river or in the less sought after neighborhoods east of Via del Corso, but I strongly feel it is worth the 10-20% premium to stay in the better locations all of these hotels are in (the "Centro Storico"): http://www.hotelteatropace.com http://www.residenzacanali.com www.albergocesari.it www.solealbiscione.it http://www.alsenato.it (B&B option) |
Also in the Termini area, Hotel des Artistes is a place a friend liked, when he visited Rome with his teenaged daughter.
|
We enjoyed the Artemide Hotel which is in the Termini area. My trip report has full details. I believe it's ranked #1 on Tripadvisor.
|
I love the Hotel Modigliani.
|
I can give a second vote to Hotel des Artistes. We got a very large room for a great rate. Have fun.

May I suggest you have a look at the Hotel Lancelot. It has good location, prices and solid reviews on trip advisor.

We stayed at the Albergo Cesari (mentioned above - http://www.albergocesari.it/) a few years ago and it was great -
fabulous location nice sized rooms (especially for Europe) simple but very good breakfast helpful staff close to shops and restaurants and major sites We will be back in Rome in a couple of summers and plan on staying there again. |
We've stayed in two different places in Rome:
Residenza Canali - near Piazza Navona. Easy walking distance to Vatican, Panthenon, Trevi Fountain. Very clean. Breakfast. Friendly, helpful, English-speaking staff. La Piccola Maison - beautifully remodeled apartments run by Giorgio and Giorgia. Located very close to Barberini Metro stop. Walking distance to the top of the Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain. Since it is an apartment there is no breakfast or restaurant but the managers could not be more helpful. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful trip! |
Dear Aussiecouple, try a look at AGV 2001 B&B - www.agv2001.com - it is located around Vatican Museums area, cheap, neat and comfortable. Hope it will help! Enjoy Rome, in any case!

In April, I spent 7 nights at Hotel Amalfi. Very, very nice family owned hotel just a 10 minute walk to Termini and the local buses. This is on a main street, top of a hill so it was great as I could walk downhill everywhere yet grab any bus to Termini to get back "home". Very reasonable rates. This is actually on Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore which is open all day so it was easy to stop in anytime for a visit - wonderful mosaics. http://www.hotelamalfiroma.it/

check out Residenza in Farnese. Good location and reasonable prices

We stayed at B&B Flavius, which is south of the Colosseum, in 2009 for 90 euro in the summer. The breakfast was included and okay. The rooms were clean, had ac and were quiet.
|
We just stayed at the Hotel Genio at Piazza Navona (July 11-14).
It was the perfect location to walk to everything or it's very convenient for buses and taxi. It has an elevator and air conditioning. Breakfast (just ok) but included. Staff was great and very helpful. I highly recommend it and would stay there again if we go back. I believe we paid $507 euros for 4 people for 3 nights. |
