Can anybody recommend a family friendly hotel in Rome at the end of June? There are 3 families traveling with 2 teenage/tween age kids each, therefore needing 2 rooms per family. If anybody knows of a nice reasonable place for 2 nights, please, we accept all information and recommendations gladly.

When in Rome we always stay at the Hotel Italia. In fact, we will be staying there in early July. It is neither fancy nor romantic but it is convenient, comfortable and economical...for Rome. It is close enough to Roma Termini to walk but not so close as to cause a problem. It is also within easy walking distance of most of the major sites. Here is their website...

Please note that the prices change dramatically on July 1. For example, a double room on June 30 is €128 but on July 1 the same room is €95.

Breakfast is included in the price but you must pay an extra €10 per day for AC which is highly recommended that time of year.

With that many people, it really depends on how cozy you want to be. After spending the day together, do you want to just chill out with your own spouse or kids, then go for the hotel. If on the other hand, you like the idea of being altogether and having communal areas such as the kitchen, dining and living rooms, you'll probably want to look for a villa. Doubt that you'll find an apartment with 6 bdrms. In most cases a rental will cost less than the total cost for hotel rooms. We stayed at the Navona Garden Suites and the Navona Gallery Suites (same location and owners)- we stayed at both. The Garden Suites are large, lovely rooms with beautiful bathrooms and with access to an outdoor patio shared with the dentist office (this may have changed recently though). Those suites do not have a kitchen.

The Gallery suites do have kitchens - there are several apartments to choose from. We stayed in the Bernini (very large room) and Borromini (small room) rooms so we had the kitchen all to ourselves. You can use the outdoor patio area to relax at the end of the day.

The location is great - a short walk to the Piazza Navona. Breakfast is provided.
